Can I potato this?
So here is my situation. I am loving this new league and having a fantastic time with my SA Raider builder, so much so that I would really like to carry on at work.

The issue is my work PC is extremely low end. This wasn't an issue back when the game was allowing Directx9 but with the removal of it I can no longer run the game.

Could anyone suggest some config changes I can do to play this game as if it came out 2002?

Define low end
So were talking:
- 4GB DDR3
- I3 3.7 GHZ
- Nvidia Geforce 210

When, in 2009?

The GT210 is one of the most hated cards Nvidia ever released ^^

Better try to start POE on a windows phone. More power ;D

EDIT:

If you do not mind spending like.... 30 Euros... you can easily upgrade that PC to DX 12 ;)
You can get a brand new GT 710 for around 30 Euros. Or a 1030 for TWIIIICE the power around 70€;
Or get a used 660 GT on Ebay for around 30 Euros, which still is a better deal than anything above....

You arn't wrong. I DID manage to get it running smooth before the jump to Directx11 by customising the Production_Config but the options in there seem rather limited now.

Anyone know of any way to help me avoid work and farm Ex's that would be very appreciated.

Maybe have a look at old Nvidia 780s at Ebay. They go for around 50€ and perfom still super well on full HD.

I'd say no xD

I'm running
- 8GB RAM
- i7 - 7700k @ 4.2 GHz
- NIVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060

and the game runs like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Frequent crashes, extreme load times especially in cities, stutters at map starts etc, etc....
and i'm already going lowest resolution with every setting at low...
Yiasmat Jun 10, 2019 @ 7:42am
yeah i kinda tried everything. I think my main problem is that i have an HDD, rather than a SSD drive. i really sucks that the game is just so much less performant just due to that fact. load times into cities are abyssmal, reaching to 13 minutes. if i didn't love the game, i would have quit quite some time ago...

what about this .

--waitforpreload --noasync

right click game on steam , hit properties , hit set launch options , be prepared for longer load times but overall much better performance.

Did you try the standalone client instead of Steam ? Its much better especially for HDD users.

There's also a tool in the forums called ggpk defragmenter that you can run from time to time, it optimises the ggpk file to improve performance and reduce loading times for HDD, and it only works with the standalone client.

My guy it sounds like your CPU is throttling or has a socket issue a 7700k can run this game ALONE, like just with the integrated graphics and still hold 70fps on like medium setting at 1080p.

I had the exact same problems with i5 7300HQ, GTX 1050 and an HDD.
I switched to the standalone client and it runs flawlessly now.
From waiting 10-15 minutes for the game to load everything to waiting 10 seconds, its like a completely different game...

well it's not so much the performance itself, but rather the load times. ones the map is loaded, it stutters a bit at the start to load in all remaining assets and then its smooth as a potato. but those load times are rediculous...
