"Micro" transactions my foot
Do you guys seriously realize that buying a full set of COSMETIC armor is about $40? Various silly things like pets and footprints around $15? There is nothing MICRO about that. Everyone talks about how PoE is free to play, and that the microtransactions are optional (but really cool, etc), but after sinking a couple of hundred dollars into cosmetic crap, you're basically paying $15 a month for this freaking game.

I have no issue paying a few bucks for stash tabs and the like, those are legitimately useful. But seriously, $40 just to make my armor look cooler? You're right, it IS completely optional, and yes, people DO pay for it anyway (I've purchased I think two full sets myself), but that doesn't change the fact that it's still ridiculous.

And on top of that, they rotate sets out, or attach them to several hundred dollar support packs, which alienates people who aren't that freaking rich or who weren't playing the game at the time.

Sorry, I needed to rant. It just annoys me that they more or less intentionally make the in-game armor extremely lackluster ON PURPOSE so that you're tempted to by the cooler stuff for a premium price.

If you think it's ridiculous then why buy it at all ? I've spent like 20$ on tabs and to be fair all it did was make me a bit of a hoarder, you really can play the full game and get the full experience with out paying.

The prices. I will support GGG when I can, they're a fantastic company and have released an ARPG that has surpassed even the mighty Diablo. I just don't agree with the prices they charge. They could cut them in HALF, maybe even more, and still turn a profit. Hell, I'd spend more money if I knew it would stretch further. $40 is no small amount considering what you get out of it.

Don't buy them.

Not for you.

I've bought several supporter packs and have no plans to stop doing so.

The game is amazing, and for each 50hrs I get out of it, I'll gladly pay 30 bucks.

Stop fn whining if you can't afford it.

Let's be fair here you don't know if they could cut the cost in half and still make a profit, and imo the prices are fine when I bought tabs I waited for a sale so I got most out of my money, the difference between me and a lot of people is I don't care how my character looks so I have no need for shiny wings or a burning lion.

I was really annoyed by the high prices for a long time as well.

Then I realized that most MTX sets look like ♥♥♥♥ anyway. Without them you look like a hobo and with them you look like a crazy person with far too much flashy lights on your clothes. The few I do like usually are part of a supporter pack; so if I buy those I can also get some stash tabs or vanishing dye. Now, I'm mostly okay with it and it's really my own "fault" for having missed a few great supporter packs; I don't really think it's bad they reward people sticking with the game throughout the years in a visual way.

Still even with prices as high as they are, I spent ~200 bucks and have around 1000hrs of playtime; so all in all I'm quite content.

Is this your 1st day on the planet ?

What product in existance doesnt have a high end counterpart to a low end entry point ?

Cars, houses, clothes.............. computers ect ect

Just like all those things you see everyday in your life you arent meant to own everything, not everything is meant for you.

Stay in your lane and others will stay in thiers, dont complain when some1 else can afford more than you............. the world and or life isnt fair, if you can type you should have been aware of this simple fact long before you decided to cry a river over the way things will be everyday the rest of yout life.

They are meant to support the devs, if you don't want then dont buy them.. you can easily get free stuff from leagues
Nobody calls it a microtransaction when I pay $3 for a coffee or a carton of milk or whatever. Because it's not. It's a normal-sized transaction.

When the term microtransaction was coined, the idea was that these would be transactions on the order of a few cents, even fractions of a cent, but that combined at a large enough scale to fund significant projects. But that "micro" part never really survived the term's application to videogames, and now exists as essentially 100% marketing nonsense.

None of which is to complain about GGG's pricing - the game's free, cosmetics are optional, if people don't think they're worth the price they can just not buy them. But yeah, it's a dumb term. :)

I spent like 40-50 dollarinos and have about 1100 hours i think its quite a bargain by modern standards. My huntress looks pretty classy in daressos defiance and a dead bear on her head, but then i have no pressing need to look like a wandering tivoli. Although if they promised to get better servers and/or optimize the game better i would probably find some crap to buy, just to buy somethin.

oh look the 2. thread in a couple days about "dont want to buy MTX but I am a pro in f2p selling strategies"
How about you just play for fun and don’t care about your look? Isn’t that what games are for anyways? The game is huge and FREE. You don’t NEED cosmetics. If you’re that upset about it, try to find another free to play just like PoE that’s just as good and get back to me.

At least they didn’t charge $15 for a class like Diablo 3 did.

Hivemind is strong; generationZ is online...

:edit
Of course you don't see them go ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in star citizen or shroud of the avatar about virtual ships or virtual lands that doesn't even exist, but still are being sold for 'good' price.

You are right the prices are stupid high, but most people think it's ok to charge 40$+ for a skin for some reason. PoE has so many fanboys who can't take any critic at how GGG makes money, the Loot boxes are pure bs, skins too expensive and 15$ for a map stash is rediculous aswell.

I can give you a rational, why I think their pricing is OK: It's a form of whaling, similar to what paradox games does.
It makes sure people really think hard before clicking the purchase button to buy some vanity item, instead of fishing all those impulse buyers, that spend more money by itchy fingers than they actually intended to do in the first place.
I feel this is a much more honest way of MTX, compared to low price schemes and/or selling non-cosmetics.
You don't have to agree on my opinions, but it would be nice if you could considr those arguments before calling someone a "blind fanboy".

Doesn't wanna pay yet bought 2 or more armor transactions.....I smell a troll.

In all reality I've played since day one (not much mind you because of my job and school) and never spent a dime; however I think I'll toss in a tenner or more for some tabs and such, because the devs truly DO Deserve the money here....
