i5 7600K, 1060 GTX but PC still runs hot after 20m of PoE playing
I wish this wasn't a thing, this is my rig: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/dYcgpb

Still very new & up to date. I would like to play 1920x1080 entirely without spikes & my PC getting hot, is this not a thing in this game or? Could someone please help

check fps.. most likely it's uncapped and you need to download NVidia inspector to limit it.
Skunny 2017 年 12 月 26 日 上午 2:27
PCs should always run hot when being used, its HOW hot thats the issue.

Send PC temps during load.
Skunny 2017 年 12 月 26 日 上午 2:28
Capping frame rate has literally nothing to do with heat by the way, don't listen to that guy.

Don't talk out of your ass. Right now my CPU temp is 32c under load that has sustained for an hour.

My point is that PoE is not an intensive game to run, especially on that kind of hardware. It wont get very hot.

Or just tune down some graphics options.
Water, engine multi threading...

if you dont set a cap, the GPU runs at max to get the best it can. With a cap the GPU can relax more and dont work as hard as before and therefor creating less heat.

If its otherwise, pls show a source.

@OP
whats your temps when you saying "running hot"?

How does it help to reduce graphic settings when you get 600 fps at max settings? That would make the problem worse..

This is absolutly WRONG!!!! running max frames CAN bog down ANY game with ANY hardware config! because MOST games are designed to run in 60 FPS ONLY!!! mostly only shooters, like CS for example, are designed for competitive gaming in mind, which allows running the gameengine at max FPS rendered by the GPU... sure, most of games CAN run higher then 60 FPS, but none, which is designed for 60, can hold it, because nearly every game just duplicates frames beyond this 60 FPS.... its by design philosophy.. good example is Tekken 7, this game can only run in 60 FPS or less.. on ANY system...! so, ALWAYS cap your FPS according to the gameengine, thats a FACT, that EVERYONE should rly know! Try enabling Vsync = On, It helped for me by capping FPS.
Phobos 2017 年 12 月 26 日 上午 9:12
Running poe with 144fps+ is what made me go and buy a decent cooler in the first place.

Then, when I used half refreshrate without threading the cpu was cooler. So coat it as a lollipop, but poe is more cpu orentated and running it with threading and uncapped frame rate will increase load and temps.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 4 post in row from people who thinks they know anything about pc`s... so many bs in topic.. and all because op said his pc gets hots and noone here knows what temps he means and how "hot" these temps are

bs nr1.. everything is wrong without right context. do we talk about gpu or cpu temps? uncapped frames will always increase your gpu load/heat

32°C under load ? thats impressive even for poe. what kind custom watercooling are you using? is this socket or core temp?

for example i run an i7-6700k like op @4.8 and my avarage load while playing maps is arround 50% which means ~60°C on a ♥♥♥♥ corsair h115. i would say its ok but your 32°C.. not bad

This guy is right. Running game without Vsync makes graphic card working with 100% its power. It uses all its power to make max FPS, so gets really hot. But with Vsync on, graphic card makes only 60 FPS (for example, there is some games that can make 30 FPS) - so doesn't need to work with 100% power - it makes card colder and "less useful". You would know it, if You had a laptop - that fact is most noticeable there (works the same way with processor - if You change its max power in power settings, it works with less power and makes PC less noisy and colder).

what are you guys smoking? as an example you name a ♥♥♥♥ console port which runs at max 60fps? every half decent pc games supports at least 120/144 fps/hz and this for some years now. only fact here is "dont belive everything random steam noobs write" (i know this counts for me too)

btw vsync on every half decent monitor means way more then 60fps...

some people dont even know what hot means.. lets talk about op`s hardware:

i7-6700k max 100°C and the hot "zone" starts at 80°C. gaming while 70°C is more then ok. intel calls this only "warm" temps. below these numbers you dont even have to think about your temps.

i guess for 1060 counts the same as for 1080`s and everything below 83°C is fine. strix cards have "good" aircolling and you should always hold your OC numbers.
these cards are build for 24/7 100% load and nothing will ever happen.

Turn on V-sync so that it'll cap your framerate to your monitor's refresh rate.

Some games can work your PC to insane levels if your framerate isn't capped despite it having no majorly noticeable difference if your FPS is already over your monitor's refresh rate.

Around 60c https://i.gyazo.com/642f6c15a0e5bf7948cae984bcd9859d.png
so basically preformance also starts to be weird when it gets hot, idk if this is normal?
I mean I lag more when it gets hot in the game

Sooo.. after all these comments who should I listen to initially? Feels like a war has set place here.. lol
