You can't change your look in this game?
You really cannot customize your characters look in an online game?
Excluding the armor you're wearing

You can't, because you're selecting a character with a fixed background story and not a class. Picking a class comes later.

What do you mean later? What is a class then? Whats the point of picking a character?

The point of picking a character is to pick one that feels like appeals the most to you (future prospects through it's class, lore, looks, starting stats or skill tree position), obviously. Or you can play the Scion, which is a balanced version of all characters' averages and gets access to any class or skill tree position in the game, albeit a toned down version.

That is cosmetic and how the developers make most of their money.

All my characters can look crazy cool at level 1 but you gotta actually pay for the game at that point.

Buy a supporter pack and you'll be able to customize your look!

Your character choice determines where you start on the Passive Tree. Each character has a predisposition:

Marauder: Strength
Duelist: Strength-Dexterity Hybrid
Ranger: Dexterity
Shadow: Dexterity-Intelligence Hybrid
Witch: Intelligence
Templar: Intelligence-Strength Hybrid
Scion: Hybrid everything

Any character can use any weapon and any active skill gem. How you use them depends on your starting position. If you want to build a character that uses a two-handed weapon, you're better off starting with a Marauder than a Witch, but it IS still possible to do it with a Witch.

Which character you pick determines what you look like. What you do from there is highly malable.

No you can't and nothing said here will influence this fact in any direction.

tldr; Either look like a level five or stop being cheap.

As other said, cosmetic changes can be done using microtransactions.

However you can not change how your character looks (their face, gender etc) for a very simple reason: During battle these details won't be visible in most cases, thus it was unreasonable for them to implement such features.

Also this is not an mmo so making your character very different from others is not that important because not all players are in the same area.

they opted out and made it a pay to win model for fashion contests

Worth noting you can unlock new cosmetics by playing and doing challenges in every league

Like right now, you're able to get Burning footprints and demon wings for meeting certain challenges.

Yep, I can see that.
