I was searching web for PoE optimizations and found this, should i benefit from this?
cause i get major fps drop to like 0 fps in heavy fights even when im solo it drops sometimes to 0
game runs smooth when im running, (144 fps) but when i engage big groups of monsters it drops like crazy
I tryd to run the game without overclock but it was even worse
Game runs the same on low graphic settings

--softwareaudio --nopreload --nosound

I5 oc to 4.2
GTX 970 strix OC
8gb ram
win 10

For starters, if you're having issues, you should realize that the dx11 renderer is still in beta, so try switching from that first. Those launch options won't do anything but make your game have no sound and load slower. Your specs are fine to run this game. If dx9 does not fix it, turn shadows completely off. They ruin this games fps.

I tryd everything before, this is second time i tryd to enjoy the game but i cant cause its unplayable when alot of things happen during fight

Setting vsync in nvidia control panel to adaptive helped little but those 0 to 1 fps drops are insane we have to wait and see what will they fix about that in future
For the info game runs much better with my specs on directx 11 beta much more .

For those who are intrested to run the game little smoother little tip, turn off vsync in game go in nvidia control panel set vsync to adaptive and enable triple buffering, apply.

Fair enough, I am sure we can figure this out though. Interested thing is my roommate runs nearly exactly the same system as you, except he has an AMD 8350 rather than an i5, and I personally run an i5 and a 1070, and neither of us (as well as most people who play this game) expereince these kinds of frame drops. The only time I have seen anything close was when playing huge aoe crit chars that instagib entire map sections. For reference, I turn optimizing off in nvidia control panel, I run the game on highest settings, excluding shadows which I turn off. Vsync I do not use in either nvidia control, or in game, I run the game at 1080p, on the dx9 renderer, and I get consistent fps above 200. Deepest drops I see are ~120 fps (which is noticebale from 200, but nothing like what you are speaking of). Another thing to mention, are you running the game on an SSD or an HDD?

SSD , il try dx9 without ex ;) and shadows
And what is your GPU usage when you play mine is very low like 40 % max

Hi,

Im playing on laptop (8gb ram, gtx960m, ssd) and there was really bad stuttering and fps drops.
Im using dx11 option, first thing which help me was change AF to 8x...dunno why but it help a lot (not only in my case)...second thing is set launch option --noasync.

VSYNC is on, shadow LOW, AA x4, postprocessing and screenshake off, texture HIGH, sound low.

Now i have stable 60fps with drops to 40fps on high density groups and 35fps on breaches...so i can say its playable now.
My gpu usage is relatively low as well. Hovers around 60 if I'm not mistaken. Which is strange because I always thought gpus were designed to run at high usage whenever possible. I don't think it is a hardware issue though.. Yes, by the way, should have mentioned. One 'fix' I've seen people speak of is changing your aliasing settings between two different values. Like toggling between 4x and 8x, and improving performance. Another little thing you can do is go into your documents-my games-path of exile and deleting your minimap folder. It has a bunch of excess files in it that slow the game down. Delete it occasionally.

not aliasing but anisotropic filter.

ps. and engine multithread enabled in my case helps a lot.

I updated the audio drivers from official site and now game works decent no more big fps drops in fight ;)

Hey good deal! I will keep that in mind for future troubleshooting. Thanks. Glad it works!
