hardcore only means you play it like a roguelike... you die, you have to restart. but technically your character gets transferred into normal league.
so it's not "lost"...
but the game was designed with hardcore in mind.
doesn't mean you can't play casual.
there's no difference in time consumption or difficulty... just means you should not ever die. aka you gotta play more careful.
but it also means small improvements and wins count a lot more than non hardcore mode
Thanks for the replies, is it possible for like normal people and hardcore to group together or are they seperated?
I'd say yes, i only really pop on for a few hours a week, once you get one character to a reasonable level then you can start farming and gathering items for other build at that stage anything but maps should be fairly easy.
As for "season" not everyone plays on them...i have not bothered with them for almost every single one, the only 2 being perandus and domination.
I'd only really play them if they had something that intrests me, for some it's the MTX's for completing the achievments for others it's league specific uniques or in come cases some new crafting method or extra loot that may not be added to the base game
Ohh and HC is the least popular btw, the temp league and prema league are the 2 most popular ones...HC isn't special unless you feel the need to try be superior to everyone else.
lol...
I meant the hardcore version of the current league, naturally....
which is by far the most played.
of course nobody plays non-league hardcore.
PoE does not even come close for casual gaming.
I quit after a while, and went back to Diablo 3.
Diablo does not suffer from lag, half as bad as this does, and you don't lose XP when you die in Diablo. It's even worse, when you die due to lag, and lose XP for it. None of the methods implimented, whether it's lockstep or anything else, have helped to resolve the lag issues.
On top of that, ever decent build that you can think of, gets nerfed into the ground, a week after it is put out as build of the week, which then makes the build almost useless.
If you want my honest advice, I would say stick with Diablo 3. In terms of end game and the fun factor, I think that Diablo 3 is far superior to PoE. The ONLY advantage that PoE has over Diablo 3, is that PoE is Free to Play, whilst PoE leans much more heavily towards the "Hard Core" gamer, rather than casual gaming. The chances are that you will NEVER see the actual last level of grinding in PoE.
Blizzard imployee detected.
Putting his opinions up like they're facts.
I've never had lag issues in PoE since lockstep. Maybe your internet perhaps?
Most people with lag in PoE have slower connection, which effects this game more.
Or a Preformance issue after a larger update, which in time is fixed.
You have to give smaller teams more time for these issues, they don't have a 500 person team.
INC "Poe fanboy scrub!"
Edit: In the end. It's F2p. Couldn't hurt giving it a try.
PoE doesn't lag.
maybe 8 years ago before lockstep.
if something lags it's your internet service provider, or your machine.
PoE engine/server itself does't lag
sorry to burst your bubble, but the stats so far over many leagues is temp leage SC, perma leage SC, temp leage HC then perma HC in terms of actual player.
I've played both.
market in softcore was empty compared to hardcore.
maybe there are more characters in softcore.
but playtime & active characters... league hardcore
either that or softcore players trade a lot less
PoE has a pretty steep learning curve, but it's worth every moment of rage while learning it.
Seasons are the most popular thing in PoE, most people take breaks in between seasons, but some people play right through on standard, and some people also striclt play standard.
You may find starting out easier in standard, it'll be easier to find helpful players there, but once you start getting to maps and stuff, it's probably better to start out in season leagues because the fresh economy makes it a lot easier to start out and complete a build.
This game had a fairly major desync issue from Alpha and CBT around 2010-2011 right up until early-ish 2015 when they finally fixed it. Since then, if you're lagging it's your PC or internet. Almost no build gets nerfed into the ground in 1 week, if it's severely broken it will get nerfed, in a few months maybe. The meta is always changing, that doesn't mean a build is useless.
PoE is overall a better game than Diablo 3, but you have to put in the time to learn the mechanics, if you aren't willing to do that, then Diablo 3 will be a better game for you.
