Pizzasticks (Flameblast Totem)
is an example.
super easy casual lazy build
Max block builds will allow you to do pretty much all content in the game, even with less then optimal gear. This game has a lot of maps (130+?) and that means a lot of boss fights to learn. Some of these bosses being pretty brutal to new players. Having a 75% chance to just block attacks/spells that would one shot most players makes the game a little more forgiving.
Relfect is also not a problem because you can block that. Actually makes you stronger with the "Voilent Retaliation" passive (+8% physical damage and +4% move speed per hit you block).
As for a build guide, I don't have one. But if this style of build interests you, i'm sure you can find one.
The exact one I used is this one though :

The most 'expensive' item that took me a while to get was The Baron, but even then, by the time I got that item, I was already almost done with the acts (Act 9 iirc).
It's rather easy to play as well, and pretty neat to see a bunch of homing flaming skulls crash into the monsters.
Also, as intimidating as it may be, try to use poe.trade to buy items wherever you need it.
If you manage to secure a Chaos orb, I highly recommend picking up a Goldrim Leather Cap, as there's very good resistances on it, and you can generally use it all the way to the late game. In case you want to switch builds/re-roll a new character, it's always a great item to hold on to for early levelling.
