Lore question Sin v Innocence
I understand the symbology here but at the stained glass window lore it paints Innocence as an Old Testament God-like figure and Sin as the Snake of Genesis (or your religious reference of choice).

But I found it interesting that we end up fighting Innocence. Did I miss something in the lore?

Thanks!

Near as I can tell, the lore is kind of backwards. Perhaps Sin was bad at some time, and Innocence was good, but history is written by the victor. Of course the guys who worship Innocence will proclaim he is such a just and kind and good all around god, while Sin is evil and corrupt.

It could be that they are who they are, and just changed over time. Innocence is shown as being so anti-evil that he would flat-out murder anything he deems to be evil. If you murder a non-evil person even though you think they are, that makes YOU evil. Rinse, repeat, let simmer for thousands of years.

Some npcs mention that believers themselves can affect their gods too, given time. No matter how good he was, over time he was corrupted by his believers.

Hm. Yes, but Innocence was killed by exile, and Sin expressed contempt for his actions and what he had created. It's an interesting situation. Thanks for your perspective! It's a very 'grounded' tale, Cain v Abel, etc etc. I was wondering if there were more to it.

This sounds reasonable. Hopefully I will find something in the NPC's as well. I just was not expecting to fight Innocence after the tales. It was a nice twist.

Sin mentions than back in the days when some exceptional humans could ascend to godhood, the actual ascencion generally costed their humanity.

By the way, the theme of "Power corrupts" is everywhere in the game. Whether Innocence was originally "bad" or "good", he got way too much power and became a fanatic. You killing him forces him to become humble again.

I'd like to see Innocence as an NPC. Besides, Sin mentioned that Inno found another host(or something like that) that will reign in his fervor and anti-evil crusader-ish tendencies. Funny thing: When you fight evil for too long, it taints you. Even though you claim you're "pure" and "innocent".

Basically: Oriath = Fascistic White culture. And it's good it is just to remind people that White Magic are NOT good(not necessarily), just SUPER LAWFUL. Just like Oriath(or Galactic Empire or Nazi Germany etc).

Sin more or less kept his humanity, compared to other gods at least. Innocence, on the other hand, got on high horse and then got caught in templar worship, which made him all the more of a ♥♥♥♥. While Sin may or may not be a good guy, he is definitely more simpathetic to humans than giant crab, 2 ♥♥♥♥♥ sisters, or god of spanish inquisition.

It would be nice if the player could pick which one they want to help, sort of like how they did the bandits.

I doubt the exiles would be sympathetic towards the Templars.

In the stained glass images, Sin is the golden child with blue eyes, Innocence the is red one with burning eyes. Innocence defeats Sin and casts him out as "evil" and Sin accepts that role, while Innocence lies and manipulates to steal the affection/worship his brother once had.

Now that is interesting. I remember reading the first window that indicated that Sin had blue eyes, and Innocense had red. Thinking how odd it was that the colors (blue for good, red for evil) were reversed.

I was unable to see the eye colors in the glass before, so I actually assumed that it was the other way around. That the golden boy that is getting all the good things is the one with BLUE eyes (thus Sin) while his jealous brother Innocense with red eyes was angrily looking on. That Inno was the one beating up Sin. That it was Inno getting the scraps. Which is all opposite what I thought the text accompanying the visuals stated: that Sin was lying, Sin was given scraps, Sin was fighting.

Either there is a mixup in the first text, or I am mis-remembering the text....
