After level 100
Hey guys, lets say you work out a good build, farm maps and reach tier 15, kill the tier 16 boss.
and hit level 100.

At the moment this is the "finish" of the endgame for your character?

Very very few players outside of dedicated poe streamers and extreme no lifers even come close to reaching lvl 100 . But even if you do reach 100 you can farm for loot to further improve your characters gear or play the market if that is your thing.

The experience you gain per hour doesn't increase after you reach a certain point, but the experience needed to level up does.

Add to that the exp loss when you don't pay attention for a second and accidentally a whole porcupine or corpse explosion and you've got a recipe for grinding. ^^

You can do it, but I'd bet the last few levels feel like wading through glue, lol.

I would say that when you get to level 90 getting more xp to level up isn't your priority; for me the best part is grinding gear and killing mobs. In fact, we use the same skill since level 60, it's not like the last 10 passives will cause a big difference in the playstyle.

stopped grinding at lvl 90 tho I ended up at lvl 91 during the farming period. And killing the tier16 boss can be accomplished at lvl 90 or even 85. between there. The busiest period in poe is when you reach around lvl 65 where your build actually gets tested whether you do fine or things go wrong and you have to make some modifications.

The finish of a character is when you're satisfied at the level it is at and there's little to nothing to improve on. Most builds are done or near completion around lvl 85. Lvl 100 is just bragging rights really.

I've found anything above about 92 is just takes too long to be worth it... if, very big IF, they come out with some cool skills that I really enjoy or they do something extreme to the skill tree it would be the only way I'd go beyond early 90's.

There just comes a point where, regardless of build or whatever, that you just get bored (grind or no grind).

I tend to die to often to progress beyond 90-92.

To give you some perspective legacy league has lasted twice as long as usual (about 6 months)and even then only about 7% of the top 15000 characters have reached lvl 100 . On hardcore legacy that number falls to about 1.5% of the top 15000 characters.

You can get to 100 just doing dried lake, several thousands or even tens of thousands of runs.... Safe and chance of a death penalty is neglible...

I did not run dried lake but to get from 90 to 100, solo, I need around 576 hours(144 days if you play 4 hours a day) based on my current exp per hour(mouse over your exp bar)...

Beware of high level players trying to "carry" you through dried lake in a party. They are basically leeching the exp off you due to how exp is being distributed. lol. 6 player party, exp killing of a mob is also 6 times, but due to level difference , the high level character get the bulk of that exp(Can be up to 90%... 90% of six times is lucrative to him while the 10% is divided amongst the five other players).

yeah as mentioned above, it takes retarded amounts of grinding after 80 - 90, just like D2 you RARELY saw people at level cap.....

when planning a build, plan for your first 60 points + quests really well, then plan to 75-80 for your end game tweak, then the rest is icing ... thats a realistic plan

To be honest, do NOT play in merciless. If you die, you lose a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of XP. Farm dried lake in cruel until you hit 100...

This would take much more time than farming dried lake in merciless, not only that, if you farm dried lake forever, what's the fun? If your char keeps dying, it's time you try another build, 'cause that one sucks.

Having done L100 myself and have a 98 95 and other high level characters, i have to say i don't think it's "hard". You don't get to that level by saying "I want to reach level 100" because it's extreme. It took me about 300 hours of semi-hard mapping to get there. But i was playing a build I like with people I liked playing with. So honestly, don't set leveling as your goal in PoE because you will burn out LONG before you make it. Set your goal as something like owning a headhunter in a 3 month league. That is doable but you need to be smart about your money making.

If you want proof of my L100 either look at the number of hours i have in this game or my official pathofexile account which you can find at https://www.pathofexile.com/account/view-profile/ravenstaver then look at my character list :)

Best of luck!

Yeah, just playing for fun seems like the more sensible approach. Don't count the exp, just clear maps, clear challenges, craft stuff and have fun.

The most fun of this game is the endgame part, and when you are tired, try out a different build, so very little people got the patience and dedication to reach level 100. I usually stop at 90-93 and just have fun with a different build.
