The prices from there are what most people compare to. Trade chat is pretty much its own economy. Everything will generally be more expensive there.
At least for rather static items it can help.
Also, poe.ninja can help you to get a sense for current value and especially trends (well, it doesn't predict streamers next builds, so take it with more salt then you do already). A second (or n-th for streamers...) screen can help.
Randomly generated stuff is much harder to price. Try to think of uses and then search for similar items and possible replacements... it often ends in quite a few searches with complex conditions if you want to do it right... no real "easy way".
It's legit; I use it too. Don't put all your faith in it, though!
TradeMacro is good pretty much only for uniques, maps, gems(with or without quality) and currency items.
Honestly 95% of the stuff you find will be worth 1 alchemy. 4% will be 1 to 2 chaos.
Only about 1% of the stuff you find will actually be worth something.
At least that's my experience.
Not really.
Good rares are worth alot so are in demand uniques.
One unique might be 1 chaos, another up to 80.
I found a gem the other day and thought this cant be worth much. Price checked it, 10-14 chaos.
Usually when you think its worth fk all its $$$
