Most players who know their way around, rush through normal, cruel and even merciless (if you have your equipment ready to go). There is no reason to clear maps until you start maping (lvl66+).

So I am not that MOST PLAYERs
I have played over 170 hours and still in Curel ACT2
For me Path of Exile is not a game of rushing about
Wandering around and using many gems skills is fun
I sometimes wear armour, sometimes running with +20% shoes
Throwing traps or Stand Still to Beat Kaom

Thay say non specialized character sucks, no it is fun if you do not live with rush.
Slow life in Wraeclast isn't so bad.

No, you simply have no idea how this game works. It might be fun for you now, but you will fail soon enough. You will either learn why people who played this game for thousands of hours do things the way they do it or quit.

You definitely should explore the world at least once and play around with the gems/tree, but if you want to even make it trough merciless, not even talking about the first map, you need to step up your game.

POE is not very kind to aimless casuals.

Stop having fun differently than me!

Seriously bro, if he's having fun being slow and using whatever skills catch his fancy, then there's nothing wrong with that.

Not everybody needs to be super OP to have fun or feels inadequate if they can't blitz down endgame content.

uhm. You are neither "most players" nor "players who know their way around".
You are basically still in the tutorial-phase of the game. Sure, it took you 170 hours and you had your fun - but it doesn´t change the fact, that you are still a newb in poe-terms - You didn´t even finish merciless yet. Nothing wrong about that but do you seriously expect, you´ll be playing the game the same way, once you finished it already? Will you even start over? Maybe you won´t make it until the end? You know, that many many many many builds start failing towards Act4 merciless, even though they breezed through it before?

And I think once the game is boring enough for you to consider it easy, it MIGHT be time to play it a different way or stop altogether.

Starting from level 1, It took me 64 hours to clear normal, cruel and merciless while exploring all sidequests for all difficulty and being anal about mapping out a place for the first time...

After which, I just focused on just doing maps and the atlas...At the time of this post, my marauder is level 76...It's at around level 65 then the game starts to feel good though where I can finally focus on crafting and doing recipes.

PS: I came back to this game due to the incoming expansion after 4+ years. I had a level 56 witch but the game was pretty boring then as compared to now. I bought a supporter pack too since I like what I see.

Thank you for proposing a different way hoping the way is not lead to simple farming and trading way.
