Why is there no auto sort for all forms of inventory?

what is the design decision behind ggg not implementing an auto sort button? its not like it would hurt the game or make it cheaty in any way. grim dawn has it and its perfect. its quality of life. ive quit the game many times for not improving quality of life features. its been the same chore based work since the game released in beta years ago. it makes no god dmn sense, honestly. the only people who say otherwise are hardcore players who probably dont have much of a life outside video games and sorting items in virtual worlds. its fking crazy why this isnt a feature.

It's not a feature because you'd loose a bit of sense of weight of the items if it were there.

Devs said it was to simulate weight, but the real thing I think is because a lot of their business comes from paid stash tabs.

simulate weight? i dont even know how that makes a slice of sense given the inventory is limited by space, not weight as in some old rpgs and newer survival games. also, if it is about weight, then why would i even be able to manually organize my inventory in order to fit more? perhaps they just dont know how to code it in the game? ultimately its up to them, but there will be problems with this when the console version releases and people are stuck sitting in the game with a controller trying to organize their inventories to fit more items because they dont have a teleport scroll or in general want to minimize constantly going back to town.

You're taking the "weight" in context of other games, instead of it's intended meaning. Think of your connection to the item instead; you feel it's there, you feel its burden when you organize your stash, which in turn influences your pickup choices.

Yeah it's actually more of a volume thing, like you can store 5 big weapons and then only 1 slot items or 5 medium + 5 small items (4x4) etc.

It doesn't bother me. But then I guess my opinion got 'auto sorted' into the 'the players without much of a real life outside video games' generalization you made about a chunk of the player base.

Takes very little time and patience to sort through and use a system to organize ur stash...but i guess thats too much for some people.

Stash is server side and some people have thousands of stash tabs in Standard. GGG has said they can't support an auto sort feature atm.

I don't understand why you need auto sort in this game

stash your currencies and have ID/Portals in your invy ... what else do you need?

You also get alot of tabs to use to sort things out yourself the way you like it ... you need to pimp up your stash/invy management game and perhaps get a currency stash

This, except I played for years with just the stock tabs, didn't buy any tabs till Breach league. I was able to sell things, store things, and progress to all content without extra tabs. Like everyone has said, be smart and chose what you loot carefully it's extremely simple. If you can't understand limited inventory and impulse control on looting everything then you'll never understand all the damage forumules and so forth.

Pretty much the correct answer to OP, the devs are also very very cautious on what kind of commodities they offer within the game. It's not cause they hate you, but they hate bots. So no auto-anything for pretty much ever.

i have loot filters for my high level characters. i understand all the number games and whatevers in this game. its not that i dont, its just that i want the damn feature for convience lol. when i roll a new toon, i dont use filters for obvious reasons. in new leagues with no prior stash build up, i always get white items until the scrolls of wisdow start dropping regularly and the occasional blue item for alt shards. always pick up yellows and up. ive played these types of games for years and years and ive never understood why all arpgs dont use universal features like auto sort inventory + (imo sacred series had THE best item pickup method with the "wide area" auto pickup and a hefty amount of filters for specific items).

i love this game, i just want more creature features because i dont have nearly as much time these days to game. ive bought all the different types of stash tabs and have about 25 extra premium tabs, spent some money on this game. hell i would BUY an autosort feature.
