There is 2 leagues, standard and legacy, you can play hardcore versions of these leagues and SSF which basically bans trading
Éres Mar 25, 2017 @ 9:00pm
So if I create a legacy account i'll be unable to trade ?

Only if you choose SSF(Solo Self Found).

2 leagues. Standard and Legacy.
Legacy is like a server that is alloted a time to exist, for example Legacy is only existing for 3 months. After that period of time every character and item in that league is transfered to Standard League.

Standard league is where all the leagues default to.

Hardcore just means if your character dies it goes back to standard which is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Legacy is the current challenge league mode. There are 4 legacy leagues (or 2 with SSF flags, ..., depends a bit on how you see it):
Legacy Softcore (Default league)
Legacy Hardcore
Legacy Softcore Solo Selffound
Legacy Hardcore Solo Selffound

Challenge leagues last 12 and a half weeks or so (for legacy: "startAt":"2017-03-03T20:00:00Z","endAt":"2017-05-29T22:00:00Z"), while permanent leagues, are permanent (sic).

You can choose the league of a character upon creation. After that you can only change it in very few ways:
- You can die in a hardcore league to get to the Standard League (the permanent league) (this is the only gameplay difference for HC leagues btw)
- You can migrate out of a SSF league into the respective non-SSF league
- At the end of a league there's an automated migration into the permanent ones (HC variants go into HC permanent, Softcore into Standard and SSF will - I suspect - migrate into the SSF versions)

How do Legacy leagues differ from the base game (as present in Standard, Hardcore and their SSF variants)?
In Legacy leagues, monsters have a chance to drop "Leaguestone", items that allow you to play with older leagues special mechanics. In Legacy leagues you can use those leaguestones. In Legacy league, you can find "Ancient Reliquary Key"s to enter an area that will grant you item(s) with old values on them, "Legacy Items" if you wish. They are pre-nerf or pre-buff or maybe their drop is completely disabled anywhere else.

Why are they called "challenge" leagues?
Because there is a list of challenges to do. They are basically time restricted achievements. (They aren't available as steam achievements, so you don't miss out on those, if you miss them.) There are 40 of them, and the main rewards are given out after reaching 12, 24 and 36 challenges: Cosmetic effects (footprints, weapon effect, portal effect). There's also a totem hideout decoration given out at 19 challenges done and extended each 3 challenges from there on.

How much time does it take to get rewards?
This greatly varies based upon your speed and playstyle, e.g. if you go directly for them or they just might unlock as you go. Playing SSF, it took me 21h to get 12 this league, around 90h virtual for 24 (I leveled another character and only needed to complete a specific map to get it)

Additionally, each league has its own economy, meaning direct trading is only possible within a league, and prices for items in the player based economy differ between leagues.

Why you can't create something?
You'll need to unlock the Scion (end of act 3) in order to create
a) a Scion character
b) a SSF character

Both is backwards thinking to be honest. Just expose them from the beginning.

You can vaal it, yes. Or buy it with the help of poe.trade or find it randomly in a vaal side area or a strongbox that has a modifier on it that guarantees an additional vaal gem, by divination card etc.

Vaal spark is vastly different from regular spark in that it is one cast to let loose hundred or so projectiles instead of half a dozen. As it's a vaal skill gem, it needs souls to charge. You get souls by killing enemies (bound to the instance, so you can't just start out a map with a vaal spark). It's a great general clearspeed skill, but really depends on some additional items (I tried to SSF it this league... wasn't too good without certain jewels to be able to cast it more often).

ahh I see, does that mean I would need to equip the original spark along with the vaal spark ?
Still looking around for the best class that suits me, currently playing the witch (summoner) dying to izaro many times ._. perhaps need to grind up more levels

They're two completely separate skills, so if you want to be able to cast regular spark as well, you'd need both.

Don't feel bad to overlevel if you want to beat that fight.

Thanks! Guess i'll level a few more times and go to act 4 before trying to beat it again, on a side note, any class and build will you recommend for me? beginner wise? o.o

I'd recommend zero budget builds, things you can do SSF that would benefit from some trading, but are good enough without it. Otherwise you might get to a point where you need special gear and hence need to grind currency, which for new players might be hard.

So
Flameblast (totems or self-cast*)
Ice trapper
Warchief totemer

* self-cast will have issues with reflect, the other builds in this list are safe against it.

Thanks ! I'll try it out but I also saw a build relates with SRS and it seems to be viable too, maybe i'll switch it to SRS and try it out first before trying totems !
