Leveling after 85 gets tedious, thats just how it is. So look for a map you like and buy this map on poe.trade (I mostly ran Shaped ashen wood last league when I did the achievement, because I found the layout good enough and they were very cheap). Shaped Ashen Wood is a t12 map and alched I got t 5% (1 bar) xp on average per map.
If you are an inexperienced HC player like I am / was then rather take it slowly and stay within you comfort zone if it's soley for the achievement.
In HC the safe way, while a bit slower is usually better than then fastest way. Shaving a minute or two per map is good, but if it puts you at risk dying and having to start over, it wont mean much.
I will look into trading more, and better map mods. I was mainly buying maps from Zana and doing daily missions.
Currently the maps I'm running (yellow) feel super safe, the build I'm using is fairly tanky. But come to think of it, I wouldn't want to be in a map where there's a risk of dying... So I guess slow leveling is the tradeoff. With a T12 giving 1 bar exp, it kinda puts it into perspective for me.
I think I went into this achievement thinking that level 90-100 would be the grind, and just getting to level 90 wasn't going to take that long. Underestimating that was a big mistake! :d
But what about grouped vs solo play, is it worth finding a guild to help level, or is it not much different? I have a bunch of friends who play POE, but they don't play Hardcore.
Thanks again!
i think solo vs group depends on your build. if it is slow then it might be better to leech off a faster party and pretend you are buffing them or something. if you are fast enough to be efficient then just run solo or with an aurabot friend.
at these levels of grinding its all about efficiency. minimizing time in between maps and churning through them fast is what you want. throw like 5-10 maps in your inventory to start and pre-roll them all. then when you pop out after the map throw the new one in and dump your inventory in a dump tab (or sort it but dumping is more efficient) and jump right back in the new map.
