And it took me maybe 9-10 hours to finish the game (mostly because i was new to to platformers at that time).Also there are community made levels featured every week and an arena where you can play against bots or online.And I personally did not play a lot of the co-op but when I did I had a lot of fun.So you should get it.It has good single-player and co-op.Hope this helps :)
I didn't realize the game has a good modding community working for it, which is nice. :D I was referring to customization regarding what colour you can make your character, as well as what head-types, body-types, etc......that you can personalize your character with. :)
Well there are 5 different head types i think which are circular,square,star,triangular and cylinder.You can only change head shape and not body shape
This is a chart of all the heads http://battlewiki.battleblocktheater.com/index.php?title=File:BBT_PrisonerRoster_Complete.jpg&page=1 and I'm forgetting all the colors available i think but the ones which i do know are green,blue,orange and red.Plus you can get weapons from the steam market and in-game gift shop also.You can equip your character with two weapons at once, all of which you can find in the steam market or the gift shop.
BBT is a bit harder in my opinion, and less "floaty," control-wise. You have to be precise for some of the later levels.
You can play on a keyboard, but we recommend a controller as that is the control system the game was built for. We do have full keyboard prompt support. [/quote]
Since you are playing with your ladyfriend/wife/whathaveyou, you will need at LEAST one controller to play coop together on the same computer. The game does NOT support two players on one keyboard.
You can build your own levels, and there are 320 different Prisoners you can equip and collect. There is also another customization option for Prisoners. O_O_O_O_O_O_O
A quote from a private forum I'm on;
"I think Battleblock Theater is the best casual co-op platformer out there. It could even teach Nintendo a thing or two. Battleblock Theater is very fun to play with two people and it avoids so many of the usual frustrations. It's a beautiful design and totally deserves a place on any best-of list."
Pretty high praise that made me feel warm and fuzzy!
Online I play with friends, story mode is 2 player coop and Arena mode can take up to 4. I play with my brother, use x360ce if you don't have an Xbox controller, works flawlessly. Add me if you wanna play Arena sometime
I love how the levels are slightly different in 2-player coop than they are 1-player, and so far the timed levels are whooping our arses(mostly because we try to find everything, we're kind of completionists, but mostly we went gems for costumes D:<).
So a few questions for those that have played more than we have.
1. How long is the game?? We've made it to Chapter 2 so far.
2. How can we get more gems, besides levels?? Because it seems replaying levels doesn't get you more gems, and we read prisoners start costing more money as you buy more of them.
3. Will you ever get repeats of items?? For example, if I keep spending yarn on weapons/items, will I ever get a repeat??
4. Regarding buying weapons/items, there's 2 doors upstairs. I always seem to use the one on the right, the wife takes the one on the left. Is there anything different between the doors, or are they both just random??
Other than that, that's it. :D We've been using keyboard controls, and they're actually not bad. I can see how a controller works better, but since only my PC has a controller, I figured we'd both play on keyboard, make it fair. XD
