Game doesn't recognize my PS4 controller

So I bought this an hour ago or so, and so far has been unable to play. My PS4 controller, if the title wasn't enough of a hint, does not work. The drivers have been installed and my PC recognizes that it's plugged in, but the game seems to ignore that completely and instead prefer me to use my keyboard. Does anyone else have this issue, and, more importantly, is there any known way to fix this?

360 gamepad only. PS4 gamepad isnt the best for pc...ANd i think its not officially supported so...Just stick with a 360 gamepad and all will be fine.

This game doesn't recognize most of the old controllers that aren't the offcial xbox 360 controller for PC and you expect it to recognize a brand new controller ?!
But yeah, maybe they'll work out to make it playable with that controller but if they don't, use a program to make your computer think that you're actually using a 360 controller or just ... buy a xbox 360 controller for PC.

Hi! BBT Steam only supports controllers that use the XInput or DirectInput APIs, both of which do not suport PS3 or PS4 controllers. So yes, to get these to work, you'd have to use some sort of third party program such as a controller emulator. Please keep in mind though that The Behemoth does not recommend using a third party program, as these could have adverse effects on gameplay or your PC.

Please also keep in mind that you must restart the game every time you connect a gamepad to your PC for the game to recognize it.

You should familiarize yourself for DS4 tool if you have Dualshock 4. With Dualshock 3 there's this http://betterds3.ciebiera.net/ and avoid using DS3_Tool.exe (reasons in "Why?" on that webpage.
As this game happily accepts also DirectInput there shouldn't be worries with other controllers but usually if you play with PC and DirectInput controller you should at least know what x360ce is.

360 controller is best bet but I just hate being one companys slave.

I use a POWER A FUS1ON Tournament Controller for PS3 and it works with Castle Crashers but not BBT. Would these programs work with it? I tried downloading one my friend gave me but didnt pick up with it. T.T I really would like to play but wanna use my controller.

Look in device manager if controller is installed then see above post. If Better DS3 doesn't work try x360ce as usually third party PS3 controllers use DirectInput to make them compatible also with PC.

I'm glad I found this, because I use my ps3 controller with many of my steam games (the girlfriend uses the xbox one, saves on money). So far this is the only game I've come across that recognizes the 360 controller but not the ps3 one though.

For some reason today the game recognises my PS3 controller in that it shows triangles and squares instead of A's and B's, except the joysticks and the LT/RTs aren't doing the correct things or anything at all.

BTW I have two direct input controllers (WiiU Pro Controller via Mayflash wireless adapter) and I'm going to try Joy2Key this afternoon. Maybe you can use the same workaround to play this game.

They sell also an adapter to PS3 controllers. If only one controller is plugged, it works on xinput mode and works like a charm

Joy2Key is usually last resort if game doesn't have any kind of gamepad support, BBT should support also Dinput devices but it has problems. x360ce is usually best solution to use Dinput devices on games specifically designed to 360 controller.

Dualshock 3 doesn't need adapter. Regular mini-USB and Bluetooth works fine. Now there's also Xinput wrapper available: http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-XInput-Wrapper-for-DS3-and-Play-com-USB-Dual-DS2-Controller

Yes, I know. But with this adapter the systems recognizes the DS3 as an Xbox controller (or xinput controller) and works perfect without having to use middleware.

It's just an easier and more expensive way, but works on every game ;)
