Voice chat - always on by default

This really needs to be changed to press to talk by default, it's incredibly annoying.

My problem is that I can hear other people and their background noise at all times. I know I can turn the volume down but then I'm afraid I won't hear anyone if they actually do try to speak. I've turned it down a little just to help alleviate it for now but I'm not sure many people realize their mics are even on.

I agree. That was an issue for me in most online games in the past. People have mics plugged in or even built-in mics on their computer and often had annoying background noise, loud music, or a distant conversation that were rarely interesting XD

I've always felt rude asking people to mute their microphones. I love push-to-talk

I get tried of hearing people breathing into their mic and constantly making noises by accident. Should be a mute button

OK didn't this suppose to be fixed at beta? I remember reading few threads about this. I don't remember who but some dev said him/herself that defaulted always on is really dumb indeed and I said thing about Sonic Racing Transformed where there was hilarious situations because it was defaulted always on before they changed it.

I would've also liked "always off" option as I use teamspeak and my regular push to talk (right stick) changes camera angle and there's no way to rebind controller keys.

Suggested this in the beta too, this is pretty standard in any game. Not everyone has a headset on but instead something like a laptop mic which has a lot of background noise. Just put the standard to push to talk :)

I agree with OP; this was driving me crazy during beta and I reported it every time in the surveys. Pleeeeease consider defaulting to PTT.

I have to agree, this is quite silly. At first didn't even realize it was on, I'm sure random people on the internet heard some conversations of mine over the microphone It definitely should default to press to talk. Cancelled bank card and broke up with the girlfriend so I've rectified problems on my end.

I agree with the OP, its a pain and the feedback when you get two+ open mics in a lobby gets bad fast.


To the Devs: Would it possible to have it default to push to talk?

I definitely agree with this. The always on mic caused a huge headache the first time my girlfriend and I tried to play online together before we finally realized the issue was that she had left the default mic setting on (some device she has connected to her desktop has a built in mic). At this point, in the eight or so hours we've played, this has been the only complaint we've had.

Is there a image or something that pops up when i voice chat cause I have it set to right bumper but when I press it I don't think they can hear me!! HELP
