Remote Play

We've had some reports of users that have been experiencing controller issues when using Steam's Remote Play feature with Battleblock Theater. This is unfortunate and is apparently a problem that many other titles on Steam are dealing with since Remote Play went live.
This feature has been entirely implemented by Valve, so you may have more success troubleshooting by taking a look at their FAQs or by seeking assistance on the Remote Play forums!

Are you looking into the issues with the game not accepting input from remote play controllers?
All controllers work in Big Picture Mode and are configurable, they also work in some (not all) other games which suggests it a game by game implementation issue.

Would be good to know it's being investigated for both this & Castle Crashers as I'd like to be able to play both games whilst in lockdown.

Me and my friend had the same problem but I think I know the solution. Just make sure to follow the steps correctly or it won't show up.

Remote play means you control the same character (I think). In other works the other person is playing your game remoetly. When I tried it we both shared a mouse and guy. If you are trying to play together, one of you in the game needs to go to online in the main menu.

Hit "host game" then go to "friends only". Select the game mode you want and then it should take you to your character setup, then a lobby with hatty holding strings up to your guy. You will then need to hit "Shift" and "Tab" simultaniously (sorry I spelled that wrong). If you are using a controller I'm pretty sure you still have to use the keyboard for this.

That will bring up your friends list. Right click on the friend you want to play with, and hit "invite to game". (It should be like half way down). They might have to be in game on the menu for the invite to work. That should bring them into the Hatty lobby and then both of you must hit space bar (A) on controller.

Side note: You can't switch teams unless you are in arena

I've been able to play other games on steam with a xbox control , its just battle blocks that doesn't work.
