Saving Dian Wei Wan Castle

I don't get how you save Dian Wei it says you need to kill all enemies in the castle, i killed everyone except the one officer you cant get to that is actively fighting Dian Wei,

anyone know how to save him?

It's just a bug that will likely never be solved. I guess with some luck it could work. The trigger magically activate, but I tried during 6h in every difficulty. I cleaned not only the castle, but also the map, I tried to change the order I defeat officiers in the castle, and I never succeed to trigger the thing.

I did it. I killed the first guy immediately, rushed to the first base on the right and capped it, killed the guy I ran past on the way back, rushed to the other base capped it, ran and killed everyone else back in the middle and the ladders should spawn. Rush back - the ladders take a minute, kill everyone inside, I left the guy that is farthest last. I did this with the halberd. You should get on the ladder right when Cao Caos last family member dies or close to.

Edit: Updating info a bit now that I've played this a few more times on different difficulties.

Ensure Cao Cao has left the castle.
Defeat Zhang Xiu, Jia Xiu, Zhang Xun, and then save Huche'er for last. You'll be on the correct path if Huche'er says,"Oh? What are you doing here? I thought your mission was to save Cao Cao, was it not?" Then defeat Huch'er.

If you've done it, you'll see the Fate Altered message.

If Dian Wei says "Ha! Bring it on! I'll take you all on at once!", then it's too late to save him.

You need to beat all 4 officers inside the castle before Dian Wei's battle marker shows him in a losing state.

Is this possible? From all the numerous play throughs I have seen, Dian Wei is always engaged in a 2nd fight with a general and they are still able to get the achievement done.

I have also tried numerous attempts. For those who have done this, would Bond level matter? I am at lvl 4. Or would difficulty matter? I have tried Historian and Wayfarer so far.

Still no luck. I was able to finish Ultimate Warrior condition for this map, but I could not complete the save no matter how empty or how Cao cao was able to get out of the castle, nor even if the last guard said his line of "Are you here to save the bodyguard"

i've done it about three times because i keep screwing myself out of the 100% in various ways, so here's how i always do it. note that i do it on historian for the sake of brevity.

i rush top right, then i rush top left. i kill the general east of the top left base (in front of the castle), then i ride back to the main battle and kill stuff until guo jia says the laddermen are ready. then i ride back to the top left base and climb the ladder.

i drop down and kill the three generals there as fast as i can, then i rush to huch'er and kill him. if all's done right, dian wei should say that the enemies are thinning right after you kill huch'er. if he doesn't say it, you weren't fast enough and need to rewind.

as far as i can tell, the most time sensitive part is killing the four generals.

This one is simple.

As soon as the gate open, quickly kill all the generals inside the castle(not the one dian wei is fighting) and then quickly kill the boss going after cao cao for the fate alturation to take effect.

If you're late then You'll fail if Dian Wei mark turn from blue to red.

All enemy officers in the castle need to be defeated, if Dian Wei's icon is red and not blue, its too late.

Stand outside the gate and wait for it to open when Cao Cao leaves the castle.

One officer will attempt to leave through the gate and chase Cao Cao. You need to kill this officer, and any other officers that attempts to leave. After that, you just kill the rest of the officers inside the castle.

If you do this in time, you'll hear Dian Wei say something about the soldiers thinning out.

It's not that "simple". Dian Wei never turns red, I have wiped the entire battlefield, rushing in as soon as the gate opens and clearing castle. Tried all difficulties, same result. There is no way I could possibly go faster, so there must be some kill order that's critical.

My fastest current order (that's failing)
1) clear middle
2) clear east
3) clear reinforcements/south camp
4) clear west (ladders go up) (i generally see a gen die here, I don't recall who, but its the same every time. maybe they are they key)
5) gate opens, clear the three inside gate
6) kill Hooch
7) kill gen chasing Cao

Everyone, it needs to be done below 8 min. It is quite impossible on the highest difficulties and historian can even be difficult. Dian Wei's battlefield letter need to be in blue and kill the 4 officers in the castle. After Hu Che Er, the fate altered will show itself. There are videos on youtube too. I've done it already :)

The main problem is the time limit. You're also waiting for the ladder to go up, and you're also traveling around the map, which takes up so much time.

Not at all impossible on the highest difficulties but definitely requires you to maximize your numbers alongside your efficiency.

Did you kill the officers that come out from the gate? If you go up the ladder and jump into the castle, you might miss those officers that are needed to kill in order to save Dian Wei

Also, as many people said, save Hu'che Er for last. His line will be the one to show if you're int he right way or not

My path:
1. Take northeastern base
2. Defeat south reinforcements
3. Take northwestern base
4. Wait for ladders
5. Kill officers that come out of the gate and enter the castle
6. Kill all the other officers in the castle leaving Hu'che Er for last

This should do the trick. Having a fast horse helps, but not necessary (I did it with Mahogany)

This is it, and it has to be done insanely fast, like less than 8 minutes. It's legit difficult but I insisted on doing it on hero mode. I've also already completed the game once so my level is sky high and I used twin pikes.
