How the hell u njoy as true DW fan with almost one character playable? i waited so long for this game since DW 8 because DW 9 was dogcrap as we all know.

Do u think they will it in future? or maybe mods?

After you beat one of the routes, the Story option at the Inn becomes golden, which means you can start from any chapter or branch point (alternative history route, aka true end), play any battle of the ones you've unlocked, but as for the companions, you're locked with the ones available for the specific battle, and Lu Bu (Don't know if maxing his affection is unlock prerequisite.)

It also unlocks the ultimate difficulty, which offers you the best weapons, arts and horses as reward if you do the challenge, but as a fair warning, that mode is not for easy to play since the game turns from hack and slash to dodge + parry mastery simulator in every fight you come across with.

You don't have to restart at a specific point, you can just choose the missions directly after clearing the level. And yeah, no free choice of characters.

I feel you op, but you gotta remember this is a spin off. It is not dynasty warriors 10. I can't wait till we do get dynasty warriors 10, but at least this is a sign the franchise is going in a good direction.

If you think Koei won't use this as an excuse to massively chop down the roster and weapons for DW10, you haven't been paying attention.

Origins is a rpg lite spin off based around playing a single character. If KOEI thinks that this game being received well means that people want a core dynasty warriors title to have 10 characters they are mistaken. Plus Samurai Warriors 5 kinda did that and it sucked. I don't think it sold all that well either so they should have learned that lesson by now.

1. I agree about "cut character" is something that unacceptable
2. BUT. in the context of the game is still makes sense.

Timeline wise, the whole 3 kingdom only started AFTER battle of Chi Bi.
and the duration from Yellow Turban rebellion to Chi Bi takes ALMOST 25 YEARS.
The whole Lu Bu, Dong Zhuo, even Yuan Shao are not even part of it. The whole 25 years events are essensially Prologue of 3 kingdom.

A lot of previous dynasty warriors are absolute nonsense when you see it from that perspective.
If you just want a almost fantasy-esque, then by all means, let 70 years Old Cao Cao (if he didnt die because of tumor) participate in battle of Wu Zhang plains

This title while it has Dynasty Warrior name on it, is "origin name". and storywise it did fit. It ended at Chi Bi, that marks the true begining of 3 kingdom. means many characters that showed up AFTER that battle hasnt appeared yet.
In fact, Cao Cao wasnt even involved in the actual 3 kingdom era. while battle of Chi Bi basically halted Cao Cao's momentum, and essentialy split the power into 3, only after Cao Pi succeed him and proclaim himself as emeperor did the trick and the other 2 did the same, thus officially started the era.

and yes, I do agree they still stretched a bit about how Sun Jian is A LOT OLDER LOOKING that he should be, and somehow SSX is OLD ENOUGH to join skirmish at the begining of the game.

in the end, if they wanted to create some sort immersive story, they should introduce "aging system" or at least "old age skin" that applied after certain battle is passed. And let character that died out of age/disease stay dead.
Like for example, Guan YU somehow gained his moustache after chapter 3.

Or they put less effort into the roster to trial the new engine and combat gameplay and it was a success and they will pair that with a bigger roster, better routes and all that jazz for DW10. Maybe I am on copium.

Otherwise it would be a straight copy paste and I guarantee it will have DW9 level reviews.

Origins new enigne, music, graphic, scale of the battles, mob density etc ARE PEAK !!!!
BUT u cant DENY that 90% of ppl here like me wait for typical "nonsense story" DW game like u said xd with total FREE MODE, 70 + characters, all possible stages and battles from prev games etc/

Its so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ retarded that u STUCK on 1 character because 2 minutes of other officers doesnt count, i still dont understand how can u play them for more than 2 minutes after completing story on NG + (im on chapter 5 now)

Something like DW 8 XL CE but on new engine (not 1:1 ofc upgraded in some aspects but u know what i mean)

The ULTIMATE DW game of all times in all aspects.
The peak waiting of DW fans, like Dragon Ball fans got sparking zero after 15 years.

The wait was looong after DW 8 XL, DW 9 is dog crap doesnt count
