How does the 'rank' system work in this game?

I assume it goes with the weapon proficiency level?
Max proficiency level is 8 yeah?
So for example, lets just say that my sword is at proficiency level 8, with no other weapon unlocked - my rank should be 8?

Please let me know if I'm missing something

I assume its via wpn proficiency level?

yea every weapon level is a char level

Then something seems wrong here~
I have 4x weapons at max proficiency
I should be at lvl 32, but it states that I'm at lvl 29 >_<

your weapon level start at level 1, you level up it to max means level up 7 times, so you total level up will be 7 level x 4 weapon = 28 level, and your base level is level 1, so 1 + 28 = 29...
