Well, this release was hyped and advertised way way more than previous releases. I am pretty sure more people jumped in who never played a DW/SW/WO game before, thus also leading to more reviews...it is not some witchcraft.

lol, every time a new game is successful there is always someone who claims that the developers are using bots. Same story with Marvel Rivals. At least provide some evidence if you are going make such a claim.

Could just be confirmation bias. Most people I've seen speculating this dislike the game so anything they can perceive as evidence will be taken that way. Though I don't think anyone would disagree that many of the reviews are very low-effort.

How will it even work? Reviews with free steam keys don't count into the final score. And if they refund, steam makes note of it.

I don't believe the reviews either, some are from days ago, the release day was today (17th Jan 2025) but some are from before the release date by several days, oldest I found so far is 6 days before release.
Some of the reviews have no text either, just a thumbs up with a title saying recommended, I'm now giving this a miss until its been thoroughly legit reviewed by trustworthy sources, and its also on steam sale for at most sub £50
