He would be disapointed.
You simply need to git gut.
Now, hurry and git gut.
Meanwhile me just steamrolled through the large army with holding heavy attack after normal attack string...That thing is straight up lawnmower machine. XD
That takes time, and requires you to not get hit though by an enemy general, where like I said, the Padao can straight up, stand back at a distance, and mow down 500+ troops in one slash.
While spinning the staff around through the enemy army is enjoyable, it's weak, and not as effective as most other weapons (or so I find).
I've cleared the entire map (including Lu Bu) numerous times before completing the mission in Chapter 2 and I've yet to see the staff drop. I get the pikes and that's it.
But still, when you compare every weapon to the halberd, none of them can even get close.
I don't like Podao because I really don't like taking my time charging stuff, I just want to swing my weapon and hit as many enemies as possible. But it's undeniable that it's great to fight enemy generals with its' fire battle art.
Really? I think spear battle arts are absolutely insane. Basically wait until enemy general finishes an attack use the spiral dragon move or w/e it's called that knocks em up into the air and does mass amounts of damage, and shield damage, and pair it together with combo's, and or the thrust spear art, and you're golden.
Again, I'm not too far into Staff Skill tree lvl 5 currently, but right now, it's the most unenjoyable weapon to play with.
The starting Battle art when mastered can do 2 stamina damage with only 3 bravery cost so it is good for killing weak officers(This is massive even in UW difficulty, the regular officier only got 3 Stamina so you can just 1 combo and use BA).
It got no powerful AoE battle arts so you need to use Ziluan art like Ice luan for high stamina AoE.
So far, staff does seem like it got the short end of the stick. The hold moves just aren't nearly strong enough and it's arts are average. Also it's luan weapon is on a specific route which is annoying. (4 of the 10 can be gotten on any route, sword, spear, halberd, and wheels).
that's what I mean! I hated spear at first, it was "Meh" but when you got the skills (level 5) uh,, and compare it to staff, like Wtf...
I'm not like saying staff is not usable by any means, I'm just stating, I really loved the weapon in other games, and when it comes to fan favs like Zhou Yu, Zhang Fei, Guan Yu, etc, etc. Zhou Yu's Staff under performs by leagues, considering it used to be the most broken weapon in almost ALL DW games, now it's just pathetic, and why include it?
Again, I just don't like "waiting" for someone to make a move on me, I want to go and use the battle art on them immediately
And for those quoting this "dragon" battle art, I don't remember it by name, but how much bravery does it cost? I don't use arts that cost a lot of bravery, because you can't use them very often. I try to keep my battle arts at max 3 bravery points, 4 if the art is really good. 5+ I just ignore.
that`s fair, but the twin pikes use 3 bravery points, and take down two shields (1.5), while being stupidly overpowered as weapons that can do everything. Wide sweeps, general damage, and shield damage.
Actually a lot of these weapons being the very first weapon (long sword) nearly triple the damage, and effectiveness against any general/boss.
Again point being, "sure" the Staff is fun to use, but it's "useless" in comparison to every other weapon in the entire game.
There is literally Zero reason to ever want to swap to a staff.
Twin pikes is also noteworthy for being able to do the most wushu damage without bravery with standing heavy into a well timed finish before it would normally end. That's like 4 1/2 shields IIRC. Unfortunately, it's 8 cost art is kinda meh with small AoE, poor range, and mediocre wushu damage.
