This by far just because the others are so old you really feel like you're missing out on so much after playing Origins.

Anyone who says origins is a new phaag, and the only correct answers are Warriors Orochi 3 and OPPW 4 (One Piece Pirate Warriors 4), these are the by far the best musou experiences. Both have deep and/or incredibly unique casts, and have the perfected versions of traditional musou combat, better combat animations, and Warriors Orochi 3 also having the best soundtrack in the genre.

Sadly after playing Origins it's almost impossible to play Orochi 3 given how dated it feels and OPPW4, as much as I love One Piece, has always bored me to death after a couple of maps and it's also not a Dynasty Warriors which is what was requested.

Obviously there are much better Musuo games around once you leave "Dynasty" behind.
Reposting this since my original post was taken down after you reported me for being correct. Normies have been one-shotted by Elden Ring, so anything with a dodge roll, lock-on strafing combat, and "bosses" is automatically a good game. This game takes one step in the right direction with it's scale, and then 11 the wrong direction. You have 10 weapons with almost 0 customization, a soulless black and white korean twink MC, and combat that makes killing officers feel like a chore rather than fun. They twinkified a quarter of the male roster, so now they are barely indistinguishable from each other. The english VA has been bad since DW9, and still sucks. There are so many moves that put you in 5 second cutscenes, constantly disrupting the flow of gameplay. But oh boy, new graphics, it's so cinematic! If I'm missing out on something, then good, take my plate and lick it clean.

Mainline DW7&8. 8 is better

Spin-off this game & 8 empire.
Im conflicted over which of the 2 is the best.

My fav is dynasty warrior 8 XL because every characters has unique weapon means that you have 82 characters with 82 weapons to choose from (more if you buy the dlc weapon).
Also it has 2 branching story for each faction : historical and hypothetical.
But this and other dynasty warriors games on steam are not comparable since this game is spinoff game of dynasty warriors.

Dynasty Warriors Specifically? Maybe 8XL or 9. It really depends on what you're looking for. 8 if you want the traditional experience, 9 if you want more of an RP experience and aren't one to just rush the main objective. It's also one of the few on Steam with online co-op, so that's a huge plus. Origins just simply doesn't factor into the equation, as its clear they weren't putting fans first with some of their more mind boggling decisions.

Samurai Warriors? I'd say you can't go wrong with Samurai Warriors 5 or Spirit of Sanada for solid (though limited) storytelling. 4DX if you're more a fan of the other factions.

If you're talking Musou series as a whole? Orochi 3. Hands down the best roster. Even if Athena from 4 was OP as all getout.

I'm looking for if any Dynasty Warriors or other musou games on Steam have online coop, I just looked up Dynasty Warriors 9 and it's sitting on a terrible 34% mostly negative rating so I think that's not the answer. I used to play these style games on PS2/XBOX and I do enjoy the storyline taking the time to follow side characters and not rush to main objective. Last one I played was the Zelda game on WiiU

Right now Origins is the best DW so far

Origins has the best gameplay, but overall I still prefer 8XL. The variety of characters and weapons is worlds ahead, and the hypothetical scenarios are much more fleshed out.

Not only does 8XL include the entire Three Kingdoms period (including Jin), they give my man Lu Bu his own faction mode, with its own hypothetical scenario. (It doesn't match the absolute insanity of the DW6 Lu Bu story, but nothing ever will)
