The story these games are based off heavily favors Shu - isn't the author a descendant of one of the people serving Shu?
This game did a horrible job of conveying how much time passed - 25 years from the Yellow Turbans to Chibi. So Liu Bei was putzing around for over a decade (between Dong Zhuo and running from Cao Cao), doing ♥♥♥♥ all. Thinking about how much time passed, it soured me a bit on the Green boys.
As these games have progressed, I think Red and Blue have been getting better treatment overall.
I thought that both Green and Red's hypothetical paths were lame. You don't get any real payoff for them like you do with Blue.
Also, I feel Shu was rather lackluster in this game. It has the fewest generals: until the end of chapter 4, you have just Liu Bei, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei, and then on the last phase if adds Zhou Cang (who is not really that great) and Zhao Yun. Only on the last 4 battles you get Zhuge Liang and Yue Ying.
While Cao Cao has Zhang Liao, Xu Huang, Xun Yu, Xun You, Guo Jia, Xiahou Yuan, Jia Xu, Xiahou Dun, Yu Jin, Yue Jin, Li Dian, and later gets Zhang He and Zhen Ji (not to mention early Dian Wei). They even had to cut Cao Ren so he doesn't get too many unique officers.
Wu has Sun Ce, Sun Quan, Zhou Yu, Huang Gai, Taishi Ci, Ling Tong, Lu Meng, Sun Shang Xiang, Zhou Tai, Han Dang and later Gan Ning and Lu Su.
Also, the true ending of Shu has absolutely nothing different, only a scene with Zhuge Liang saying "well, that was better than I expected", nothing really changes for Shu in its' "true ending"
Sun Jian previously felt like a greedy man who vied for power by hiding the imperial seal, but in Origins his motives were almost noble.
Shu's fate alteration also felt really bland, and I downright hated the way Yueying was portrayed. She had a political marriage with Zhuge Liang while harboring romantic feelings for the MC, like seriously? Meanwhile, her husband was treated as a fraudster who had to rely on MC's power to 'summon' the wind.
