If you're on Windows 11, it's probably an issue with your cloud syncing taking over the Documents folder. If it is, you'll need to look into how to turn that off since this game and games from this company save to your Documents folder. And it sounds like your computer isn't giving the game access to the folder and files.
Other companies probably save to other folders like AppData, to your Steam folder, or in some cases, the game directory itself.
If you have any cloud saving applications looking at your Documents folder, you'll need to look into how to get those to not mess with your game saves e.g., OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive, ProtonDrive, etc., that are looking at your Documents folder.
Potentially fiddling with the following:
\Documents\KoeiTecmo\DYNASTY WARRIORS ORIGINS\Saved\SaveGames\ [your Steam ID]
Does it let you save to a new save slot at least or nothing at all?
