Question about altering fate and completionism achievements.
*Spoilers*

Hi.
So, I'm currently on my first run of the game, as in I have NOT gotten to end/post game, and I'm currently doing the Cao Cao storyline. I just finished MT Bailang, but I ended up saving Guo Jia. While I consider this a good outcome, Im wondering that since I've already failed change fate previously, should I go back and let him die, and then do another run of Cao Cao where I do successfully alter fate for the true ending?

Bit of a confusing question, so TLDR;

I saved Guo Jia at Bailang, but I'm wondering if I should go back and let him die so I can get everything related to changing fate on a post game run. Since Im gonna be missing the cutscenes where he is dead and it might interfere with my completionism achievement.

When you complete a storyline, you can go back and replay the story from points where it diverges, so you can get all the scenes.

Yeah, but my logic is that since this is my first run, would it be a good idea to mix the different fate altered cutscenes with the non altered. So I would do 1 run and get all the “normal” ones, then I do another and get all the “altered” ones. If that makes any sense

Ah - I think that in order to get the hypothetical scenes, you will need to save both officers. If you're not planning on saving both, then it may be best to go back and let Guo Jia die. If you save only one, you'll still get the historical ending, which means you'd have to beat the game saving only the one you didn't save, then again saving both.

I may be wrong here.

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking. I could never end up saving the last guy, I forget the name but he’s the bald guy who saves cao cao when you escape from the castle. I guess I’ll just reload and let him die, just to be safe. Which sucks cuz he’s a real homie :(

Dian Wei

You should be able to progress along different paths independently, jumping around the story and doing the fight the way you need it for the other path. The story chart is very clear about missing scenes and which path they take, and the final branch appears to conditional on both surviving.

I did Sun story first and the altered fate scenes don't show up until the very end excepting a few dialogue line changes. Having seen both Dian Wei saved and not saved mission complete scenes it is only a couple lines of dialogue.
there is a single scene where you don't save dian wei but save guo jia that you'll need to get for the full 100%. you've stumbled onto a cutscene that drove me insane, congrats.
