1. Halberd(Kinda does?)
2. Sword(my weapon since demo and finish the first story)
3. Lance(So satisfying when you max the damage you have recieved from the enemy)
4. Podao
5. SpearGauntlet
6. Gauntlet
7. Wheels
8. Staff
9. Twin pikes
S T I C K
Twin pikes have been growing on me and probably caught up with wheels in second place for me. I love them in duels since they basically let you fully charge the duel bar without the enemy being able to fight back.
Gloves are still my favorite though.
I like Podao but I haven’t gotten a reduced charge affix for them yet. I think that will likely increase my fondness for them a fair bit.
2. Podao - it's basic attack combo is fine, it's charge attacks are gimmicky and not really worth using a lot of time, but it's battle arts are amazing and at end game it's all about battle art spam. Even before end game, sea of flames is just amazing and sharp fang fury is the best cost to wushu damage ratio I've found outside of halberd doing what seems to be about 3.75 shields of damage for 5 cost. In an opening just do 5 basic hits into sharp fang fury and almost everything is broken from full (over 5 shields of damage) and it's got good AoE.
3. Sword - This weapon would just be pretty good but sacred bird cry is very powerful and worth spamming. Time slow and big damage and big aoe. After it gets its rank 7 moveset upgrades it does great damage and wushu damage with it's basic attacks. Early game it also has pretty good peon clearing with jump heavy spam.
Everything else feels about on par. Crescent blade might be 4th. It's got pretty great damage and AoE. I also just haven't explored it as much as a lot of the other weapons. Lance feels like maybe the weakest just because it's gimmick gets you quickly murdered on ultimate warrior. If you have the tankiness though it's charge moves do great damage.
S+ - Halberd
S - Lance, Staff, Twin Pikes
A - Crescent Blade, Sword, Spear, Podao
Bad - Wheels and Gauntlets
For fighting enemy officers
S - Halberd, Podao
A - Rest
Bad - Wheels and Gauntlets
Wheels and gauntlets are really the only weapons I actually dislike. I only use them to level up, but if my weapons of choice will always be the Halberd, or the Podao if I have to kill an enemy officer quickly or a powerful enemy officer
The others aren't bad, they just can't hold a candle to Halberd, no wonder it's the last weapon you get
Im doing mine in tiers as well do to weapons being used the same way or for similar purposes
1. Lance, Cresc., pikes
Once you get use to the combos, dodging, and using battle arts fast, this is an amazing. The added benefit of having the best charge attacks in my opinion keeps it up. Only downside is the lack of variation in combo.
He Crescent blade is similar to the lance but its range is wicked and the power attacks flow in with combos so there is no delay. Downside is the weapon is slow.
The pikes are the best early game weapon overall in my opinion. Range, speed, varied combos, cool arts. The downside one being preference. Some people find them unrealistic and I can understand that.
2. Podao, Wheels, Staff
Tbh, I loved the Podao but it was kept more so for 1v1 or specific missions. It was my favorite before the lance and I switched between that and the pikes. On top of that it had a great SP art that worked its magic fast.
The wheels were fast, had exhilarating combos and solid range. The strong throws tho always had you waiting and did not become adept at using them.
The staff was just another fun combo weapon with an infinite spam characteristic. Downside was it seemed weak.
3. Sword, Spear, Gauntlets
The sword and spear were ok but mostly because they were early game weapons and eventually had cooler variations of themselves. The Gauntlets were cool but a lack of range and variation in combo and arts keeps it at last for me.
Wheel, Padao and Twin Pikes are all very powerful. Wheel seems nutty once you learn the moves and are willing to weave in towards your blades to trigger the spin of death. Padao has the Hanzo special - cone of fire except it is very cheesy in this game. Twin Pikes just pop something up and kill it.
I want gauntlets to be good but it is going to take some practice to make them work and spear is just meh along with stick.
Halberd is going to be the most versatile and powerful which is obvious and Crescent Blade isn't bad just slow and methodical.
