Wait ... No Co-op???
DYNASTY WARRIORS: ORIGINS brought me straight back to the glory days of DW3. The combat, atmosphere, and sheer nostalgia are all spot-on—I genuinely had a blast with the demo. It’s clear the developers put a lot of heart into recapturing what made the series great.

However, the absence of co-op is a huge disappointment. Dynasty Warriors has always been about teaming up with a friend to carve our way through armies together, splitting up to gain tactical advantage of the map, or teaming up to take on Lu-Bu! Without that crucial feature, it just doesn’t feel complete.

While I love what’s here and want to support the devs, I can’t justify buying a Dynasty Warriors title that’s single-player only. I really hope they add co-op in the future, because otherwise it’s missing that essential spark that defines the series.

Mousou has almost never had good online features, let's be real here. Co-Op has always been an extra, and for a game with a story focus on a single character like this it makes sense Co-Op is gone.

What *is* inexcusable is the lack of Create-a-Class/Create-a-Character.

So you are saying it is OK to not have a feature that has been in practically every game, yet NOT ok to exclude a feature that has only ever been included once in 20 years?
no everything did to be co-op.

Who are you even responding to? Personally, I was just pointing out the silliness in their statement.
That said, so what if this is an off shoot? The majority of the Warrior games, including off shoots (meaning an upwards of probably 100 games at this point with all the different variations of theme), had a multi-player feature in some form. It is a big part of what made them so popular. Conversely, very few of them allowed customization.

Fun with context: It seems that, at least on X, the producer of Origins was more excited when posting about DW7 -- which also had a single-player only Story Mode with fixed character(s)* -- than he was for DW8/XL...

* Co-op was in Conquest Mode, which replaced the traditional Free Mode, and this was the only way to play the Other characters (no Story Mode for them) and whichever Three Kingdoms/Jin characters weren't playable in any Story Mode stage.

CaC has been in every Mousou game since DW5: Empires. There is literally a subseries dedicated to it even.

That is not accurate in the least.
In regards to the Dynasty franchise specifically, it has been typically included in the Empires spinoffs, but not in the standards.
Never mind all the other different warrior franchises.

One piece warriors4 online co-op was well made and functioned great.
Coop has worked well in these games even since Dynasty warriors 3&4, so unsure what you're on about.

My partner and I had played some of the original versions when we first got together from our couch (local co-op) years back, and just last week we thought "Would be so great to play any new releases in the series together now!".

Super disappointed to see one of the standout features to buy this series and not another has been lost. In terms of local co-op, this series was a blast. But as a single-player (or even online co-op) series? Nah, there are a LOT of better options for that.

Pass, until they bring back local (shared or split screen) co-op play.
