What *is* inexcusable is the lack of Create-a-Class/Create-a-Character.
That said, so what if this is an off shoot? The majority of the Warrior games, including off shoots (meaning an upwards of probably 100 games at this point with all the different variations of theme), had a multi-player feature in some form. It is a big part of what made them so popular. Conversely, very few of them allowed customization.
* Co-op was in Conquest Mode, which replaced the traditional Free Mode, and this was the only way to play the Other characters (no Story Mode for them) and whichever Three Kingdoms/Jin characters weren't playable in any Story Mode stage.
CaC has been in every Mousou game since DW5: Empires. There is literally a subseries dedicated to it even.
In regards to the Dynasty franchise specifically, it has been typically included in the Empires spinoffs, but not in the standards.
Never mind all the other different warrior franchises.
Coop has worked well in these games even since Dynasty warriors 3&4, so unsure what you're on about.
Super disappointed to see one of the standout features to buy this series and not another has been lost. In terms of local co-op, this series was a blast. But as a single-player (or even online co-op) series? Nah, there are a LOT of better options for that.
Pass, until they bring back local (shared or split screen) co-op play.
