So you only play as one character now?
Gone are the days of the 40+ characters to play as? Only one? Really?

Its not the numbered main series Dynasty Warriors,

DW Origins it's it's own thing, where you control as 1 character, story driven apparently,

I don't mind the New guy but I don't get why we can't play as the others?

---

Could of least have the option to play as em in Side Missions (Free mode type fights),

Samurai Warriors Chronicles series handle it better in my opinion.
No you can swap to any other character..it even lets you do it in the demo
Temporary control the other characters from what i heard.

1 minute?

Yup.

In the demo, when the ally's Musou meter accumulates to full, you can Switch Characters and play as them for about 1 minute (or less if you use too many abilities or end their Musou early).

For some reason, the Switch Character Musou has a very wide area of effect. Depending on enemy density when it goes off, the companion may be the one receiving the 1000 KOs message.
Who knows can probably use a cheat engine similarly to what people did to find Lu Bu being playable and just make the control time of the companion more permanent, either that or it will be moddable to some capacity.

Yup, it can be said that the modding was done via Cheat Engine however there was a 'repeatable Companion control' script, albeit it didn't overcome the limitations of the Companion... no riding a horse while in Musou Rage/War God Rage, no Tactics, and no regular Musou Attack, and indeed I don't recall it preventing automatic Musou Rage/War God Rage or the concluding automatic True Musou Attack, it just let the player immediately swap back to the Companion.

The game producer has mentioned the possibility of lengthening the controllable time for the Companion in a post-launch update, however otherwise I imagine that the Companions are working as intended.

Honestly it would make sense just to have a setting to make the companion 'permanent' from the start, it wouldn't take much for it to work as well... The code etc is already all there lol.
Nah, as it stands the Companions have no customization in the full game either.

I mean just from the start of the levels, you wouldn't want to change their weapon or loadouts, it would be like playing them in the older DW games.
Pretty sure EVERY warriors spin-off game had way more than one character, name me one that released in the last 10 years that only let you play as only ONE character or a handful of characters.

That... depends on whether you would consider Fate/Samurai Remnant (mostly played as Miyamoto Iori with Yamato Takeru as the main Servant) as a Warriors spin-off or not. Probably not coincidentally, this was the Origins producer's previous game...

Oh god, the same person that worked on Samurai Remnant worked on Origins? That would explain so much now...wow they are really hammering the nails into the coffin now.

Ehhhh, even without F/SR he's also the head of Omega Force so he was going to be in the chain of command either way*... like how the credited producer for every Samurai Warriors mainline game is none other than the president of Koei Tecmo Games Co., Ltd.

That, and other Origins demo players are seeing traces of aspects from the licensed-IP spinoffs ('collaboration games' according to KT), with the producer of Origins having previously done the Dragon Quest Heroes duology...

That said, this (the producer of Origins) is also the guy who on X seemed to have been more excited by DW7 than by DW8... and DW7 was also a game with moveset clones, a single-player-only, fixed-character Story Mode with swappable weapons, and no traditional Free Mode.

* The producer of DW7, DW8, and DW9 is now the producer for DW-as-a-whole.

I mean I have Dragon quest heroes 2 and at least it feels like a proper musou warriors game, I mean many of Omega forces games feel like proper warriors game, I feel like this one is going to do poorly and hopefully the devs will take that as a clear indicator that "If its not broke....don't fix it.."

I would say Berserk is probably among those that use a handful as you only play as Guts in the story mode, but can use few of characters in free mode (after unlocking them) within those same battles and the tower, none of them get their own branch of the story.
