Also, try capturing more areas or bases to boost morale, especially the one that gets Kong Rong killed.
Nah, they'll blame anything except their own nontheless. XD
- Sun Shangxiang: the player can secure this quicker than the other two thanks to being right on top of the ambush, and in particular Xu Rong; his defeat alone can turn the Battle Area from allies-losing to allies-winning, allowing the player to safe leave for the center (Yuan Shao) or even the east lane (Liu Bei)
- Xiahou Dun: the player can quickly take two bases at the center lane, is closest to Yuan Shao, and upon defeating Dong Min (the mace enemy who threatens Dian Wei and Yuan Shao) can turn east or west for Sun Jian or Liu Bei
- Guan Yu: has multiple bases and enemy officers along the lane who can be defeated for morale bumps; defeating Wang Fang (the elevated-Courage officer at the second base) can be enough to keep Liu Bei from being defeated quickly, allowing the player to take a chance on the third base of this lane or turn back to help some of the minor officers between this lane and the center lane (e.g. Cheng Pu, Han Dang, and Han Fu getting stalled out by the throwing knives-wielding Yang Ding) IEDIT: and there's a ledge above the second base from which a Volley can reduce Wang Fang's Courage
In essence, you only have to be concerned with two out of three lanes, one of which is Yuan Shao's.If i remember rightly, i started Liu Bei's side and rushed forward to the north east fort, when Gongsun Zan or whatever his name was starts fighting there, i left my guard detachment there on forced march and they kept him alive long enough for Liu Bei & co to arrive. I eventually came back to finish that fight after getting ol' Hua. Don't actually fight Hua Xiong, just aggro him and wait for the duel prompt and get him that way.
Can't remember how tight the timings on that was though so it may still be considered sweating, but i'm not kidding when i say the game played itself, i never went down to the bottom left/center sides of the map because Yuan Shao & co. literally swept over them.
I suppose the alternative is to attach the difficulty of a single player game to your ego and then cry about how bruised it is while doing nothing to change the outcome.
