After playing the demo will you be purchasing this game?
I felt that there was a sensory overload. There were flashing lights, text boxes popping up everywhere. It felt like being bombarded with too much at once. It also seemed like the constant need to counter every attack would get old after a while. I am on the fence honestly. Seems like it wants to be Sekiro or Dark Souls without the polish that those games have.

I liked the previous games, but the combat system was so boring to actually play. The real fun was trying out new characters and looking at the pretty combos for a few maps until you get bored and try out a new character. Considering the inflated roster sizes, that actually meant you could play a lot of titles for a loooong time that way.

My only issue is that KT absolutely cannot figure out how to make good combat flow and they have been defaulting to a lot of [parry/counter -> combo until out of stunlock -> repeat] design that tends to make the combat too formulaic. I do worry that they've traded one braindead combat system for a slightly less braindead combat system without actually making the game more fun (and excluding the possibility of coop with all that bullet-time cinematic BS). I'll probably get this when it's on sale unless I hear that the game has a lot more to it than what the demo has shown.

tldr - It's good, but it does not seem to be worth the pricetag. Demo made me more likely to buy. In general, right direction, but I predict a few problems keeping it from being great. That seems to be a common opinion.

I definitely turned off Lens Flare and the tutorial pop-ups*, however I found that the demo made it so that getting "bombarded with too much at once" in terms of enemy attacks wasn't an issue so long as you move with your nearest allies instead of trying to rush the enemy officers. I recognize that the Sekiro/Souls comparison is for officers, however this is closer to applicable on Hero (hard difficulty) than the others because of blocking draining your Bravery, and even there with the right build and tactics it's possible to shred enemy officers... as proven by assorted players' time attack runs against Lu Bu on Hero.

* As intrusive as you may find them, I suspect that Omega Force devs learned that particular lesson from from Team Ninja's feedback on Wo Long wherein players complained that they couldn't figure out how to "unleash the power residing in the jade"... because they were too locked-in on the boss to read the button-combo unobtrusively placed on the left-hand side of the screen.

It did for me. the game looks and feels great.

The demo gave me Devil May Cry, Dynasty Warriors, and Wo Long vibes. I’m 100% getting this game!

There were points where I REALLY liked it, and points where I REALLY didn't.

I will say, and I shouldn't be surprised really. I was excited by the trailer because it looked like for the first time we might see actual formations in the troops. But it appears to just be a gimmick with an officers ability on occasion.

And I still want the gameplay to be slower. I want to push the frontlines with the troops, not rush from one officer to the next. Purely why I stopped playing the previous DW games.

Overall I'll get it, but I might wait for a sale. Unless reviews are raving early on.

I’ve heard Sishui Gate is one of the hardest and the most rushed stages, but other stages aren’t as hectic. If that’s true, it might balance out, but waiting for reviews or a sale sounds like a smart move if you’re unsure.

Honestly, I had an absolute blast with the demo. I've already replayed it countless times and there's something really satisfying with rushing to the end of the stage right off the bat and beating the ever-living snot out of the large force before Yuan Shao can even reach there (even on Hero mode)

It felt like older DW games in a way, but also felt refreshing.

I just wish it still had co-op as an option, free mode may or may not be returning which will suck if it doesn't, and it feels weird to not have multiple character choices (all of these i deem as negatives against DWO. they're great features, it's sad to not see signs of them).

My negatives aside, game came off great and i fully intend to buy it.

Same with me. I've played DW since DW2, to where I have no problem with how Omega Force wants to go all-in with the CAW system started in DW4, combined with the new combat mechanics that stirkes a better balance than what DW6 attempted with their Renbu system. DW7 started leaning more heavily into the cinematic/production quality of this game with dynamic intros (taken from Yakuza series), such that this game feels like the Elden Ring of this franchise. They have taken the best parts of each DW game, improved on the weaknesses from game to game (e.g. too many characters with clone movesets), and the initial trailer really does represent what this game is going to be. That's the impression I got from the demo.

I will not. I played the demo, and the gameplay is amazing, but the lack of character creation/customization is a big no for me. The Warriors games have been a favorite of mine, but this game is ENTIRELY male-centric, being that there's no character creation/limited(if any) customization. This game is a travesty, from what I've been reading on their website, and should not be released until they address this major flaw in design.

no i dont think i will. the lack of a traditional roster of character is a GAME BREAKER for me. the gameplay was alright but its still a DW no more. no roster no buy

Melee combat during the three kingdoms period of ancient China (and also during all other periods of history from the beginning of time to the present day), has always been "male-centric." Deal with it. If you want a female-centric game, go buy something based on fantasy anime.

Free mode might be addressed. And i imagine them having scenarios for visiting chars.

However, for this installment they are clearly focusing on the story\narrative. Let us see what they are planning to drop.
