I have played DW 2-6 and WOU3, I can say this game has the best combat by far. You have to use strategy in every engagement. Animations are great, combat moves are great, new battle arts actually make stunning and interrupting strategic and more fun. Morale and courage seem to be implemented good. Presentation is good.
Again would need to play the full game to know completely, this is my projection from playing the demo. 2 issues or questions I have is, I think it needs an adjustable camera (but the more I play the more I got used to the current camera) and I would like a Create a Warrior, but if the MC is done well it wont be a huge deal to me personally.
Another thing is I hope they add substantial content post release via updates and DLC, their past DLC practices are not great, but they seem to have changed much, but we will see.
I do wish the thread title were more descriptive, so I'll say:
I got 35+ hours out of the demo. In my hands, I'll easily get my money's worth with the full game, sale or no.
Give it a try.
You don't have to understand. I just wanted opinions.
But after trying the demo I think I can say this might actually be one of the best games I ever played! (keep in mind, I´m used to playing fast and difficult hack n slash games like Ninja Gaiden)
Combat feels really nice, animations are great. Difficulty comes mostly in the form of your strategy. You need to always have a plan of where to go, how quickly (the game is fast), and how to hit the enemy the hardest. It really makes the difference between demolishing your opponent and the complete opposite.
The way you give your troops commands is exactly the way I always wanted it to be (time and place is very important), although it does pause the game.
Special effects when your strategy/fighting succeeds look great, feels very satisfying.
The game also seems very replayable, I think speedrunning each level will be a lot of fun.
No idea about the story yet ofcourse, but from what I´ve seen it´s more serious than before and seems pretty well done.
Only things I think are misses are the fixed single character, and no co-op or pvp, and the pricing. But I don´t mind those things much.
