Hell, at the level of morale you mentioned, an unique officer should not struggle against an unnamed or even a generic officer. Hopefully it's just a demo thing, and all allied officers are just underleveled for some reason.
Even when Lu Bu got involved Yuan Shao remained in place, and if you don't directly try to stop him, instead protecting the rest of the front line who by now should be clustered together, the Peach Garden Oath Brothers are able to hold him at bay for so long that you should be able to safely handle the rest of the battle. Unfortunately I can't guarantee this because the player chose to actually engage Lu Bu and defeat him, so the rest of the battle played out with the morale buff from that.
