Game is cool but has some very serious problems.
First and foremost: for some reason it keeps disconnecting my controller from the game- this happened like 7 times, and really needs to be looked at in the code.

Second: maybe it is because this is the very first battle of the full game but there are WAY too many things pausing the action to explain things, its just utterly annoying and then it throws me off and I get whacked by someone.

Third: I love Dynasty Warrior games and they are a joy to play, but this game [Origins] seems actually really stressful to play, maybe this is a personal thing.

Fourth: The Lu Bu fight is a big fat (F-), my character can die in 2 hits while he can take over 1000! I got the hang of the timing and Parrying everyone's attacks but I find it excessively unfair that his damage output specifically leaves completely no room for any slight error.

If I wanted to make myself miserable and play Elden Ring, I'd go play Elden Ring- not Dynasty Warriors.

Elden Ring in my opinion is a "worthless" game that sent me into a depression and I had to stop for the benefit of my mental health.
The game can have the best graphics, the best controls and sound design- but playing the game itself is a joyless- depressing trek through hell.
I say "worthless" as in it's likened to buying a bag of sugar that isn't sugary or sweet- basically a bag of edible sand.

If salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.

It's not like I can tell the devs what to do with their game, but if that's the direction that the game is going, you can count me out, I will not be looking forward to the next installment of Dynasty Warriors.

Its the difficulty of 3-5 again, so I dunno... Play on the easiest difficulty. Many people are on the side that they went in the right direction even though playable officers/weapons went down.
I agree the pausing etc in game was abit annoying, but to be fair I didn't explore the options lol.

What is "3-5"?

Dynasty Warriors 3 to 5. I think the name Origins was intended for that purpose and it needed abit of a reboot. Whether this is mainline title or a spinoff, this is the direction they are going to go with.

It keeps disconnecting my mouse too, and I haven't even actually begun playing.

Oh, I didn't have any of the PlayStation consoles while growing up so I didn't get to experience those games.

I think Lu Bu in the actual battle scenario wasn't really meant to be fought. I remember that in the older DW, you can win the battle without battling him at all. The dialog also shows that he didn't really die after we beat him, which I think it's a hint that we'll meet him again in another, later battle. (I'm guessing it'll be in late game after we get progressed far enough)

Wait, for real? how do you win then?

No, I mean like in the actual Battle of Sishui Gate scenario. Iirc, the objective for this battle is to defeat the enemy commander, Hua Xiong, and secure the supply depot or something. Lu Bu is supposed to retreat during this battle. But in this demo, when we faced him, he could pretty much annihilate everyone, including our key commander, Yuan Shao. It doesn't make sense because if he dies it should've been game over.

So my point is, defeating Lu Bu here is just for the demo stuff ig

Only issue I have is pausing the action while I'm fighting someone to show me something else. Hopefully, this can be turned off.

Other than that, everything else is a step in the right direction for the series.

It's like this because of the demo, it will not be like this for final release.

you can turn down/off the the pause that happens in the settings (Not in main menu) in System - Configuration - Battle Assistance

I'm loving this demo.

This is the same style they used in past games under slightly different titles. Don't let them fool you, its all crap from new 2k versions of this game. Custom Toon, makes his way up the army's rankings through fighting. The only thing that's really different is how the UI present the data to you. In the past games, all the "if you take this side first" or "kill that last/don't kill that guy" stuff was already in the previous games. Same for the weapon drops, lvling them up, beating Lu Bu was annoying. Even getting him off of his horse, back in the day, was a small feat. Etc, Etc, Etc. So I didn't feel like this had "new" features in the game at all. Just something they threw into Cursor and had em translate the code/Engine into something visually bit more pleasing. Kind of thumbs down for me.

this looks like one of the best DW yet, wish the camera was a little farther though
