There are hits but there are more misses.
This is LEAGUES above the abomination that DW 9 was, definitely a great direction to be going in some cases but to me it's also regressing in areas. The fact that it's just this one nameless guy that's playable is pretty much a deal breaker right there. The general's sword is the only weapon with actual combos, the rest just seem to rely on the special arts between spamming square. That plus the fact they think they can charge £65. It seems for each part it's improved in, it's failed in two more. Kind of disappointing.

I agree with your point about the protagonist. His design looks like generic JP slop game protagonist. Huge wasted potential on not giving us a character creator for such a blank slate character. Easy $70 saved.

Guess what, I got dq3hd this week. I got to create 3 characters, jobs and looks. But dw cant do it. Lol.

Not that I think its mass important as it was really not a staple of mainline dw games. But I think cosmetics bu battles or officers you befriend in this game could have gone far.

This is just a rehash of assets from wo long.

if you think general sword is the only weapon with combos you must not have looked at the movelists very hard. there are more inputs for combos and the other weapons have hold combos now. havent tried the hoops yet though so not sure about that weapon. general's sword is the only "traditional" style weapon, but if you've played sengoku basara, you know that having combat that isnt strictly reliant on the square to triangle flowchart is a good thing.

I don't know what combos you're talking about. With the crescent blade for example you just have the 3 hit square string, the 4 hit triangle string. Then you have charged triangle and charged triangle while evading. They're all separate moves. If that's what you mean by combos, it's a very weak definition. Dynasty Warriors combos were always quite simplistic but they were at least more than 3-4 hits.

The Crescent Blade/Guandao's square and triangle strings can chain into one another like DW6, the Podao works differently from that (I'm told there was a resemblance to DW9), and then the Wheels are based on timing your strong attack inputs.

The more I read the negative comments on "No combos," the more I can confirm that none of you played the demo. It's a new game and a redesign at that. Maybe try some buttons out before jumping on the forums. This is like saying Smash Bros doesn't have combos...
yeah, this game isn't satisfying me. the visuals is good but the game-play isn't there. i'm going black to fire emblem warriors three hopes on the switch.

in Dynasty Warriors, CAW(Create-A-Warrior) is now completely exclusive to "Empires"...unfortunately.

Feel free to educate us on what the combos are then, I'd love to learn.
As good as the roster of 9 melee weapons might be, there are none of the more interesting or unique weapon choices. No long bow main, no twin maces, no magic staves (Jang Jiao and Pang Tong) or feathered war fans (Zhuge Liang and Sima Yi). These kinds of weapons were very often my favourite to play through the series.

Sadly, this might be a deal breaker for me unless reviews show that the combat really excells and if there are enough equippable unusual martial/magical arts.

I'm still holding out that we'll get heros unique weapons like LuBus Halberd - So maybe a chance for Sima Yis fan? Probably wishful thinking.
Create A Warrior was a thing in the regular Dynasty Warriors 4, 4 Xtreme Legends, 4 Empires ,

Then for some reason, it became just for 5e, 6e, 7e, 8e and 9e. Plus DW Next for PSVita.

The only answer I can provide here without spoilers for the full game (as opposed to the demo) is that the demo has two Battle Arts that let you use a bow, one of which is a Universal (with any weapon) and one that's exclusive to the Wheels... and that the Companions in the demo each have at least one Battle Art that can't be selected by the player at all in the demo.

How was it implemented in next for the vita? I didn't know that it was there.
