The good doctor said in the end "Gott im Himmel (in english it's God in Heaven) You have become the host", you hear screams from soldiers and a ghostly sound which indicates that you became the new walrider and started killing those people.
The game is truly great and just sheer brillant to play, but the ending felt a little too rushed for me. After everything he'd been thru. I was expected to see at least something good happen.
TBH I was expecting Miles to leave the place, but possessed or brainwashed.
especially after Martin told me to record his "death and resurrection".
This was my opinion as well. I hope the developers take note. I thought there was going to be another 30 minutes to the game, where you travel back upstairs and walk out, but nope. Apparently the facility had an unlimited number of disposable troops.
Running from an unspeakable horror carries a bit more weight than "OH NOES SPOOKY CLOUD OF NANOBOTS". I actually started laughing at points after that plot twist got revealed, odd person that I am.
Remember who was keeping them out in the first place? Chris Walker and the Walrider. They were busy with current affairs. Chris Walker dying in a seemingly undeserved way to me, and the Walrider attacking and trying to possess you. So they pretty much had a clear path in.
I don't think that the Walrider is a ghost, it's a cloud of nano-bots from what I picked up. They use Billy as a sort of hive to generate more of them with. That's why he looks so old for a 23 year old or whatever. They then take over your body right before Billy dies so that they have a new hive. When the soldiers kill you, they search for a new able-bodied person to use as a hive. That's just what I picked up though. More sci-fi than supernatural.
