Now as for your initial question, I can say that it most certainly is if you're a big fan of the horror genre. I am, and I absolutely love the game and think that no horror fan with the ability to buy it without breaking themselves should miss it. However, if you're strapped for cash and want something to hold your attention longer, I would wait for a sale. Otherwise, I say go for it for sure.
I do like horror.
The problem is, I can only spare 20 dollars for videogames until November, and I'm saving my money for Machine for Pigs
Still, the adrenaline rush is there and it is good. I don't regret buying the game. In fact, there's the challenge of recording all events and exploring the game to its fullest. I stumbled over a shadow on the way to the mansion that was lurking at the windows on the upper floors. There are some moments in the game where you can feel the suspense. I wait hungrily for the sequel!
I actually went into this game feeling pretty cynical about it, but it turned out to be a really awesome and surprising experience. I couldn't stop playing it.
I can't say if Amnesia AMFP will be better or not since it's not out yet, but if you can only afford one, maybe wait for AMFP to come out, get some feedback on that and then decide.
Tnx guys.
I'll wait till Machine for Pigs is out and ask for comparissons. Thanks again.
It's not about chosing Amnesia over this, or this over Amnesia. It's about playing both.
Compared to a movie you pay at cinema, or a ride on a rollercoaster for you and your gf, the price here is really fair.
AND PLAYING THE GAME SAFE, means you dont run every singel moment :P
ps , u gota have some feeling in the game and u dont get it from rushing the game.
Yes the game is worth the money, and this company can make alot more games and they deserve this little amount of money they are asking for :)
Except I pointed out that I can only afford one.
*-*
But thanks for the comment. You certainly increased my interest for this game.
:)
The only things lasting longer require a ton of side trash that adds NOTHING to the game except wasted time on reptitive mini missions and such.
Few ever go over this.
I am downloading anyway but would like to know how the graphics add to the game,
Ill post back here once i have finished the game and i do plan to take it easy and watch every corner :P
Steam says I only played for 4 hours, and I've beaten it. I wasn't rushing or anything either and even spent a good while just hiding under beds from certain enemies. It's a pretty short game, but it's enjoyable so I'm gonna say that it is worth the money.
Honestly, the ending was kind of predictable and the game overall was really short. It also got progressively less and less scary as you went through. The first few scares were good, then they got really predictable. It basically gets to a point where you'll be walking down a hall, say "There's gonna be a jumpscare" and then there is.
Again, I think the game is worth the 20 dollars, but I'm not sure that I agree with the people who think that this is one of the greatest games. However, I do hope that they make another game, because I would definitely buy it. My only real gripes about this game is how predictable it can be with its scares and its length.
I know I'm probably gonna be the one here with the unpopular opinion, but this is honestly how I felt about it. Not the greatest game in the world, but it's worth the money.
Edit: Okay, so I just looked at the time again, and steam says 4.8 hours. So, roughly 5 hours. Still kind of short, but I guess that's better. lol
