Fix for issues launching the game

We've just activated a new patch to work around the issue some players were experiencing when launching the game.

On some 64 bit systems the game would not launch, showing a brief black window possibly with a cryptic error "0xc000007b".

Most affected players should find that the game now runs with the new patch.

If the issue persists however, an option has been added as a workaround. From the Steam library, right-click on Outlast, select "Properties", then click on "Set launch options", and type in "-32" (without the quotes). This will instruct the game to run in 32-bit mode even on a 64-bit platform, which should work just the same but bypasses the issue with incompatible 64-bit system libraries.

I just bought OUTLAST I´ve to say one of the most beatiful games ever.
But I can´t play it because he did not installed it...
so what do I have to do the second after i bought it??? plz.

The Game doesn´t work after all the recommended Fixes. 16 € for a Red Barell Logo and a black screen. That´s too expensive.

Can I Hope for a solution? My time is too short to try all the examples for fixing the issues. Damn!

I've got the same problem. I emailed their support and they told me it's being worked on.

Welll..

I have windows 7 64 bit. And the game refuse to launch. A little grey windows open and say the game is about to launcg... but nothing.

I tried the "-32" command in launch command, but it's useless.

I have to admit, in my haste for some new horror gaming fun what with the new Amnesia still not working, I missed the system requirements of the 64 bit cpu and went ahead and bought this last night. Annoyed at myself, I think this is the first game I've seen for 64 bit systems only, however.

Anyway, I'm chucking my experience in there; my 32 bit Vista machine isn't running this, I've tried the memory trick too but get stuck just after the read barrels logo as other people seem to have.

Would be great if some kind of patch was released to allow me to play; as it stands I'm down £25 from this and Amnesia as neither will run.

I've installed game with some anxiety about all these 32bit issues...But everything works fine. Without any adjustments. My system is Windows 7 Home Basic, 32bit

dear redbarrels. please make another patch that helps work out all the crash kinks and make it so those of us with xp 32-bit can run it smothly or im going to need a refund on my money as this tweek dosent work and i cant run it/figure out how to run it. i am currently stuck at using the computer the 2nd time after turning the power on in the basement and i can go no further

I had this same exact issue. I found that changing to my native resolution fixed it.

hello. Samme problem at the same place that deadlyoverlordx. And the tweak off switching XP 3 GB doesn't work. Can you please do something?

Wasted more than 3 hrs to try all meassures discussed above. Useless. Disappointing, frustrating. My weekend has to spend like this. HOW COME!
