Why didn't Miles just leave the asylum?

When he got to the room with all the heads and the guy saying "You have to get the ♥♥♥♥ out of this terrible place", why didn't miles just turn around and go back the way he came? That would certainly be enough proof that some freaky ♥♥♥♥ is going down, right?

Yes, Miles got back up after he was shot. We know this because the Walrider NEEDS a host to survive, and we saw the Walrider at the end of 'Whistleblower' when Waylon escaped.

The reason he couldn't leave is because his exit was blocked. If you look through the vent after you enter the vent in the bathroom, an inmate comes through the door, and then locks it. If you leave the vent and try the door, you can't open it. So you're stuck.

Yes, Miles got back up after he was shot. We know this because the Walrider NEEDS a host to survive, and we saw the Walrider at the end of 'Whistleblower' when Waylon escaped.

Yup. It was Miles as the host. He actually pushed his car through the gate to help Waylon. Otherwise, the jeep would've never made it through.

Also understand this. he wanted to see what was going on, when he went into that room filled with heads he was about to leave until Chris came along and threw him out the window. Then when he was trying to open the front door, Father martin turned off the power to the door and then he sedates him and etc etc etc.

He also mentions in a note after recording the cop. "It would have been nice to know if I could leave the way I came in". The only way out was forward at that point.
