My impressions so far are that the game looks great but has more bugs than a motel mattress.
I didnt get attacked too but he leaves, it's more of a scare instead.
When it's calm it's ok, but once someone turns up, or something happens at all, it freezes.
Last time I had to close it with task manager. Got back to laptop, won't spoil what happens there, but it just froze completely and wouldn't continue. The guy talking carried on, but once he finished his dialogue all I could hear was my character panting.
Bug #04: I can open doors, but I can't close them. I can't even grab on to them if doors are open regardless if I've opened them myself or they were already open.
When I tried a third time it worked fine, the door wouldn't open.
And I don't know if it just me, but I find it difficult to pick up some batteries. It doesn't happen with all of them, but I've have to click all around some batteries in order to pick them up.
Ive been getting the exact same problem with loading old saves, i get to play a 5 second snippet and then it freezes and crashes. It means I have to play the entire DLC in just one go otherwise ill never reach the end. I hope they fix it.
My girlfriend was having the exact same issue, and I think it's related to having a 32 bit operating system. Her base game of Outlast works, but the DLC stutters and crashes after about 5 mins. I think I found a solution to the issue on Steam's Outlast Whistleblower DLC page. The following is listed under the system requirements:
Additional Notes: * 32 bits systems are not officially supported, but should work if configured to provide 3Gb of user-mode address space. See

or

Both of these sites explain what you can try to fix it, and I found the latter of the two to be more accessible. I have NOT tested this fix yet, but I'm pretty certain it will work, given that it's listed on the official steam site as a way to make the game work on 32 bit systems.
I want to see if there's anything at all to catch my interest in this mediocrity and the amount of times my PC has crashed to desktop or froze on this game is not making it any easier.
