Whistleblower before or after the main game?
Hi!
I usually want to play games in their chronological order, so my question is:
Does the DLC happen before or after the main game?

I've had the game for a long time, just sitting there in my library because I heard about this DLC coming out.
I can finally start playing :P

Whistleblower is a prequel. The main character is the guy that told Miles about the asylum.

The main character in the prequel is the one who lead Miles to the Asylum, he sent Miles the emails.

from the store page...

"Although Whistleblower tells the story that led to Outlast, it will actually stretch past the events of the first game to show the final chapter in Mount Massive Asylum's story."

it would probably be best to play the main story first, and then the DLC.

That's not how I roll, friend!

You really would be better playing main story first since the DLC also shows what happened after the main story ended.

@Mechanical Paladin. Just a word of caution if you decide to play Whistleblower first. Since it will extend past the events of the first game, it will significantly spoil the events of the main game to the point of effecting your playthrough once you decide to tackle the main campaign. Fair warning. Without going into details, knowing the results of what transpired during the main campaign (which undoubtedly will be mentioned in Whistleblower) will significantly color your playthrough through the main campaign, moreso than most games. Like you, I have a obsessive compulsive need to play games in chronological order, but I highly recommend playing through the main campaign first. I can't help but feel you'll strongly regret it otherwise.

Thanks for the heads up Reaper Madness, but I'm still going in chronological order :squirtyay:

So you're gonna play it, stop, start and finish the campaign and then continue ?

As someone else said, you'll need to play about the first hour or so of the DLC. Stop. Start and complete the main game & then finish the DLC. You really should do the Base game then DLC.

These kind of questions boggle my mind and makes me fear for humanity. You would think it would be common sense to play them in the order they came out, no? Whistle Blower has monumentally massive (huehue) spoilers within the first minute of gameplay.

There are plenty of games that can be played in a different order than their respective release dates. It's a fair question.
The fact that you didn't even consider that boggles mine.
