Is Outlast inspired by the movie Martyrs?

I watched a movie analysis of this movie(haven't watched the movie itself yet), but the way that woman describes that if woman is put into horrific pain, she can see into the afterlife. Which is pretty similar to the story of Walrider and the variants, most of them were tortured and put into all kinds of horror just to see beyond our world.
