Why do people think Father Martin stopped Miles from getting out after his death?

I mean it was never confirmed that he intentionally programmed the elevator to take him to the Underground Lab. Maybe all of that was a big coincidence?

I think he did that intentionally so Miles can discover all the real secrets of the Asylum. I mean, he didn't let Miles get outside on the first stage of the game, making him go through the prison, sewer, male & female ward, courtyard, which are basic locations of the Asylum without having many secrets and would he miss the chance to let Miles get out without seeing the Underground Lab where all the secrets are hiding and the core of the story?

I don't think Martin did, I think Wernicke brought you down there to kill off Billy and hopefully end the whole nightmare. Martin saw the Walrider as an extension God and wanted Miles to see it's "work" throughout the asylum, then get out and spread the "gospel".
