Outlast black screen crash
Everytime i try to play Outlast the starter credits come up but as soon as the red barrel logo comes up, everything goes black and theres no audio! The only thing i can do when that happens is alt+tab (though it never works) and use the windows key. I always have to restart my computer when this happens.

I have tried everything! I have changed the launch options to -32 same black screen, i have tried running the game in windowed, i have tried running in administrator mode, i have tried running the game in windows 7 and windows 8. i have uninstalled and reinstalled the game 5 times now trying different things but the same thing happens.

I dont know the problem. Ive been able to run the games with all the settings maxed no problems such as battlefield V with 60 fps. I wonder if its because i have windows 10 and 64 bit? I hope someone can help me.

so we both have the same game, same win 10, same nvidia driver, same monitor resolution, same sound device. game works for me but not for you. game doesnt write into your launch log.

try running the game from the game folder - sometimes an error msg displays not hidden by steam.

check windows event viewer - maybe game crash event with an eventid would help. might check windows update - something might have failed.

might try a "clean boot" - maybe some overlay is causing problems

eventid 10016 is an errror everyone gets I believe. win 10 problem. not game related.

might try manually running the redistributables (with admin permission) in game folder
_CommonRedist\vcredist\2010
run BOTH 32 and 64 bit exe

still cannot tell if game is crashing because of permission problem (cant write into launch log) or cant read hardware/set graphics

ah sorry im not very good at this. Nope game still crashes

I installed the game on win 7 and win 10. ran fine on both. with no error msgs or launch log, kind of hard guessing what problem might be.

type in display settings in windows search area. scaling set to 100%?

nope nothing it still dosent work

maybe someone else has an idea. without an error msg, I have run out of guesses.

last remote possibility would be rolling back graphics driver. I have an old 750ti - nothing really changes in the drivers anymore for that card. been problems with the newer cards and 4xx drivers. might try a 39x driver.
