If you do not own a 4K monitor and a powerful enough GPU, forget about it.
I used to get 4k 3840 x 2160 now I'm only getting for this game 2560 x 1600.
Tried re-installing verify game cache and nothing to avail.
Set native desktop res to 4k, then start game... I have confirmed this works.
go to ...\Steam\SteamApps\common\Outlast\OLGame\Config and edit the DefaultEngine.ini:
right at the top there is this section:
by default there are different values, just edit as in the quote...
as a last step, I had to choose the 4k resolution in the ingame graphics menu. works perfect.
Wondered myself the same, it lets me only choose 1440p but not 2160p. The game also seems to be capped at 60fps, which is quite a bummer.
read about 4k and 4k upscaling. your 2007 game doesnt know anything about 4k and contains NO 4k data/textures/etc. the screen size may be 3840x2160 but the details are missing. 4k games are massive diskspace wise - all the details 4k added.
