How is Outlast 2 connect to Outlast?

How is outlast 2 connected to Outlast? I know they take place in the same universe but are there any connections at all to the first game?

Officially Outlast 2 its NOT connected to the original Outlast. Its a new story.

Its about evil and darkness! in the end you must live through the dark to live in death.

They wont be a connection in the main story of outlast 2 but they did say there are documents or some sort of hints that lead to a connection.

According to its description, it says that it has different characters in a TOTALLY different setting thus giving less connection to the first Outlast and would show the blacks and whites of hell. Well the only connection is that you still have the night-vision camcorder, the horror feel, and the creepy-ass creatures lurking in the game. Hopefully, they would add the ability to fight back unlike the first outlast wherein you need to survive and finish the game's story.
