I'm just saying I, and others have as well, won't pay full price for the Seasons.
They don't want to put the base seasons on sale, fine.
Other companies have and I spent my money on other games.
I'm sure they're doing what they feel is in their best interests. May it be so.
I even understand them wanting to promote the more expensive bundles. If I didn't have Season 1, I'd probably buy it during this sale. I don't see getting Season 3 Pro, and I don't know about Season 2 Pro. I don't expect Season 4 to be on sale for at least a year.
They (Farsight) probably do think promting the base games isn't worth it.
Those figures aren't public, but if their total sales income for season 1-3 is still inferior to what those seasons have cost them to produce back then, they aren't going out of business if they give people a better discount, they are already out of business.
Well, in my little example Farsight was right. Pacman have just bought season 3 pro...
I didn't buy Season 3.
Yeah, you are not bluffing, lol. Farsight probably believe they can still sell X number of season 3 digital copies at full price in the incoming months. Then they will lower the price for all the paratech2008 of this world.
At some point they will be forced to lower the price to increase their sales. It's like that for any developers and for any games. It's the unavoidable course. Season 3 will cost just a few pennies in 2021, I can bet a tf2 hat on that.
We both bought skyrim and all dlcs at full price, and we both agree that this game was was worth every penny we paid for it, and right now the game with all DLCs cost less than season 2...
Just seems nonsensical to not have a proper sale like fx2 did to me and others, that's all. Best of luck to us all :)
I and others won't pay full price for it. I spent $40 on the Summer Sale for 7 games and 3 DLC. I'm not spending $30 for another Season of Pinball Arcade when I paid $15 for Seasons 1 and 2 each.
BTW If they didn't make enough money on the first 3 Seasons, how did they afford Season 4 and the DX11 update?
And wasn't the original pinball arcade a port of the XBOX 360 version?
Some might? You mean some will. It's a basic law in economics. If you increase supply you lower the price and you increase the number of goods sold. And Farsight want every penny they can get from customers for their digital products, and not only from die hard fans like you and me. But right now they believe there are still people out there willing to buy season 3 at full price (they might be right about it), and they want to be sure to get their money first before lowering the price to get paratech2008's money.
get the maximum amount of profit. With these weak sales, the majority of steam users will just buy all the other great games on sale, and we just get screwed again waiting until Winter for the next BIG SALE!
Having played the demos of the tables in the other seasons, the only table from any of seasons 2-4 that I would gladly pay $3-5 for is Addams family, and I did so. The vast majority of tables are ones where I would be willing to pay $1 or less. These seasons are much worse than Season 1.
I'll pick up Seasons 2-4 if they ever are close to 50% off. I will not pay $3 per table when there are only a couple excellent tables per season.
I expect that if I purchased all of seasons 2-4 they would still get far less playtime from me than the Season 1 + Addams family tables that I already have. Thus I am not at all willing to pay 5 times as much for Seasons 2-4 as I already have invested in the game.
It would not surprise me at all if a large number of people who have put money into this game either own just season 1 or season 1+2 (frequently purchased on sale), and maybe an extra individual table or two. The value on Seasons 3 and 4 sucks in comparison, no matter what you say about "how lucky we are to play these $6000 games for almost nothing."
Farsight has made $20 off my purchases. I'd be willing to pay as much as ~$50 more to buy seasons 2-4, even though I'd expect I'd still get more play out of the tables I already have. There is no way I will pay $90 more.
The vast majority of people in TPAs market are not people that actually own pinball machines and take pinball seriously. To them, it's just a video game, not some "amazing opportunity to own real pinball machines." The value in Season 1 when on sale is great, but the rest are currently priced so that only seriously hardcore fans will be interested.
