Beat game with Pistol only?

I am doing an LP of the game and I want to make a fully Tech build. I am trying to play as a character that is a great hacker/mechanic but not really good at combat. I was wondering if it is possible to beat the entire game with just the pistol? I like the idea for role play reasons, but I am not sure if it is realistic. (also, not psyonics)

Given the different ammo types I think it's possible. Will you at least use the wrench or nothing but the pistol? While I see the pistol working against every enemy I think you could run into ammo issues if you shoot everything with it.

I'm sure it can be done. You will deal with ammo issues, but that can be dealt with, especially if you will use the wrench when needed too. The pistol works best with a higher Standard Weapons skill, but from what you've said, I'm figuring you'll just still with a 1. Take the ranged weapon OS upgrade, modify the pistol, and keep it maintained (which shouldn't be a problem for a fully Tech build) and you should be fine.

Done a Pistol only run on Impossible. Not as hard as it seems. There is more than enough Standard/AP/Anti-P ammo to last you. Med-Sci has a 12 Standard Replicator, Operations has AP and Recreation should have Anti-P all without hacking them. Personally if you are using hack with Pistol only, then Navy is best. Otherwise, I would pick Marine. Most of the hacked crates should have nanites or ammo. Most of my runs are done with 0 Hack though.

It is possible to beat the game useing a wrench, its possible :p

The only hard part I found about Wrench only was trying to get the enemies to hit the bosses. As a result of doing nothing but restriction runs, I've instinctively hoarded the ICE-Picks for the Resonator and the final battle.

Wrench only is possible. For years it was sortof a community achivement to beat the game on impossible with just the wrench (which is bloody hard since the very last boss cannot b hurt at all with the things oyou gotta use friendly fire.)

That's why you allow enough Modules to get the Laser Rapier

Then it's not a wrench only run. You can still hurt it but you have to use rocket fire from it's projections.

I've done a Wrench only run with 0 Hack. I never want to do it again. I'm now in the mood to do an energy only run with 0 Hack.

a 0 hack run can be done because the game gives you just enough ICE-Picks to drop the shields on the last boss. However 0-hack... *shudder* I can't imagine running like that given how useful a skill it is.
