Game crashing on start up fix I got from Rebllion.
- Close steam.
- In C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\logs, create a new file called custom_log.txt (leave the file empty)
- Delete C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sniper Elite 3\bin\SniperElite3.exe
- Delete C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\appmanifest_238090.acf
- Delete C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\depotcache\238093*.manifest
- Delete C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\appcache\appinfo.vdf
- Start Steam.
- Install Sniper Elite 3 (it should discover existing files, so shouldn't have to download anything, or at least not more than the 10Mb executable).
- Run.
- Run a second time (yes, really).
- If it still doesn't start, then can you send the custom_log.txt file to our support email.

I actually had to do this twice but in the end my game is working.
Hope this helps and happy Nazi hunting.

Edit: I tried playing the game later and was having a crash again. turns out Avast antivirus needs to have the folder added as an exception or have your active shields turned off. I recommend the former rather than the later.

Thank you! Adding the Sniper Elite 3 folder to MalwareBytes' malware exceptions worked for me also. It was crashing after the rebellion logo until then.

at least the antivirus part did i didnt do all the deleting etc etc

Had the same issue, none of the tips above worked post recent win10 update. Try running steam in admin mode.
